    WEAVE-IN ---- A SUCCESS!!"
Our "Summertime and the Weave-In is Easy convention was a great success. More than 80 weavers and 12 teachers provided a real learning experience this weekend.
Thanks to everyone who helped make the convention a success. The goody buckets were a hit! The Holiday Inn made us feel welcomed. The raffle was a great success - even if Laura Lee did not win. Thanks to everyone who donated raffle prizes, goodies for the hospitality room, time at the front desk, and muscle to set up and take down. A list of raffle donors and winners can be viewed here.

    New from Laura Lee Zanger

Basket weaver and teacher Laura Lee Zanger has written and published her first novel Spirit Voice. It is a fictional story of Native American life from the mountains of North Carolina to the coast of South Carolina in Pre-colonial America. It is told by an old Cherokee basket weaver as she recalls her past, beginning with her abduction by a group of strangers when she is four years old. As the Girl of Four Summers she develops a lifelong relationship with her Spirit Voice who guides her through life, the good and the bad. She learns about her world as she travels from the mountains to the ocean along the Great River of the Uchee, Sawanugi and Savannah Peoples. She lives for a while with the Cusabo People of the coast. A family secret is revealed to her when she is a young woman, triggering events that change her life forever. This story is full of family and tribal dynamics as it is woven around historical facts. It is a journey through time for the reader to follow the long life of Old Woman as she experiences hardship, joy, love, and learning. This is the first of four books that follow the lives of the old basket weaver’s family. Future books include They Came, Broken, and Reconciliation. For more information contact Laura Lee at dreamweaversent@aol.com
