Welcome to the home page of the 2009 Charlotte White Sox, a member of the American Division of the Charlotte Adult Baseball League (CABL). CABL features 8 locals teams made up on players 18 years and older. The regular season for this wood bat league will begin in early May and continues throughout the summer with league playoffs beginning in September. All games are played on Saturdays. Most of the key players from last year’s team have committed to return this summer however the Sox are seeking to add a few new players to bolster the roster. The 2009 team will again be led by manager Guy Koenig and assistant coaches Ken Vaughan and Erik Garrett. If you are interested in trying out, please contact a member of the coaching staff.
2008 OPEN DIVISION SUMMER SEASON
Congratulations to the Charlotte White Sox who closed the 2008 Open Division by winning its first league Championship. The Sox, who finished 17-7 and second in the National League regular season standings, swept through the playoffs, beating the Knights, Red Sox and Rangers. The playoffs featured some incredible games including the final weekend against the Rangers where both games were decided in the last inning.
The 2008 team was led by solid pitching, great defense and some timely hitting and is already looking forward to the 2009 season. Most of the players from this year’s team have committed to returning for next season and new recruits are already being contacted. If you are interested in playing some competitive baseball with a great group of players, please contact a member of the coaching staff. The 2009 exhibition season should begin in early March.
Special thanks go to coaches Ken Vaughan and Erik Garrett for all of their efforts making this season so successful. Thanks also to Erik for handling webmaster duties, to Pete Greenwood for compiling all of the statistics, and most importantly to the players who worked so hard all season.
2008 SUMMER SEASON ALL-STARS Congratulations to the White Sox players selected to the inaugural CABL All-Star game including David Piho, Kenneth Pasour, Dane Phillips, Steven Klenovic, Erik Garrett, Will Lane and Jonathon McManus.
2008 NABA FALL SEASON
After concluding the 2008 CABL Summer Season with a championship, the White Sox then won NABA’s inaugural Fall Season championship going 10-2. This newly formed league featured four teams (three from the NABA) with hopes of expanding next season. As in the past, all league fees will need to be paid in full prior to the beginning of the regular season unless prior arrangements have been made.
As in years' past, the league will often times not make a decision on whether to play a game until approximately one hour before game time. If possible, please try to wait until then before you start calling as we will simply not have any information to share. If you ever have questions about the schedule and cannot reach a member of the coaching staff, please contact the league phone (877-461-2225 - press 1 for the Open League) for updates. Information regarding postponed or cancelled games will be posted on the line as soon as a decision has been made.
