What is a Brush With Kindness?

A Brush With Kindess is a program of Habitat for Humanity Greater Watertown Region Inc. that helps low-income homeowners by offering

exterior home improvements. Volunteer teams work to improve the condition of homes by painting, weeding/seeding, landscaping, and

performing minor exterior repair at minimal costs to homeowners who would be unable to complete home repairs on their own.




What does A Brush With Kindness do?

A Brush With Kindness focuses primariy on neighborhood beautification through the exterior fix-up of homes. Minor exterior repairs are

possible at the discretion of the local ABWK committee under the advisement of the HFH Greater Watertown Region, Inc. Board of Directors.




Other Requirements:


*Able-bodied homewoners will work alongside the volunteers in a cooperative effort. Sweat equity for each partner family will be

determined based on teh project size and estiminated hours to complete.


*HFH of Greater Watertown Region Inc. will participating in the level one tier of ABWK. Partner families could be eligible for the following home

repairs/improvements, exterior painting, window repair (screen or broken glass), minor siding and trim repair, landscaping, junk removal,

board replacements in stairs or deck and door replacement.


*Each family is selected based on need and the scope of the work as determined by the HFH Watertown SD affiliate.


*Partner families must show and prove that the house is owner-occupied and the house can benefit from exterior improvements.


*Partner families must show the ability to repay the note (no longer that a 5 year note). Level one expense cannot exceed $3,000.


*Partner families must be unable to afford the necessary home improvements and physically unable to complete requested projects due to age,

disability, and/or other circumstnces, approved by the board.
