DISTRICT 5-SE GOALS
2007-2008

This year, LCI required me to set membership, extension, and retention goals for our District.  Those goals are as follows:
  1. Recruit 159 new female members (average of 3 per club) and a total of 212 new members
  2. Increase club membership by use of the 4-step Membership Plan in every club.
  3. Have every Lions Club support or sponsor local youth programs (such as youth camp attendance; Peace Poster Contest, speech contests; soccer, baseball, softball, and/or basketball programs or tournaments; Scouts; Hershey Track Meet; bands; etc.)
  4. Charter 2 family-oriented clubs, 1 campus club, and one regular club.
  5. Reduce the percentage of dropped members per club to 1% (was 1.9% in 2005-06).
  6. Increase the number of clubs having a new member orientation by 25%.

But our motto is “We Serve” so we need goals beyond membership to promote service.  We have dedicated Lions who have agreed to be District Chairpersons and we need to support those District programs.  So those goals are as follows:
  1. 100% participation by clubs in Campaign SightFirst II.
  2. 100% participation by clubs in each of the District programs.
  3. Encourage more clubs to use the Henry Baker Service Award to recognize the service of their club members.
Lastly, we need to have more fun in Lions in District 5-SE.  One of the ways to have more fun is to get to know Lions in other clubs, particularly within a zone.  With that in mind, the goals are as follows:
  1. Each zone will hold 3 Zone Meetings with 100% club participation and at least one Club President Excellence award and one 100% Secretary award in each zone.
  2. Each club is encouraged to have a Newsletter about club activities.  It should be sent to all members once a month, using e-mail wherever possible to cut costs, and also sent to DG, VDG, Zone Chair, and other Club Presidents in the Zone.
  3. Each club should have a “Visitation & Convention” committee to organize club visitations, particularly within their zone, and encourage attendance at Fall Forum and State Convention.

I pledge to work as hard as I know how to accomplish these goals but I can not do anything without the help and support of every Lion in District 5-SE.  We already know we are the best District in South Dakota and the best District in Multiple District 5, now let’s prove we are the best District in the United States.  With the dedicated support of the Lions of District 5-SE, I know we can achieve these goals.

TOGETHER WE SERVE
