The WAHBA has opened a new office to help us implement our mission statement, and to better serve our members and the public. The new facility is at Hwy 212 and 6th Avenue SE, in Watertown (across from Econofoods).

A business card holder has been installed in our vestibule to make member contact information available to the public 24/7. This is for the exclusive use of members of the WAHBA. To defray the cost of this feature, current members are asked to purchase a holder for their business cards with a one-time charge of $10 for each holder needed. This is included in the new member enrollment fee. Each holder will hold up to 60 business cards and has a spring-loaded lid to keep your cards clean. Get your $10 fees, along with a supply of your business cards, to Vern. He will get you set up. Posted 01/29/10

Visitors to our website will be able to print out your business card from our 'Member List' web page.

This stamp is available in the WAHBA office, if you want to put it on the back of your business cards and direct others to additional information linked to your listing on the 'Member List' page.

RESIDENTIAL CONTRACTOR'S LICENSE NOW REQUIRED IN WATERTOWN
.... Effective January 1, 2011, any sole proprietorship, firm or corporation that engages in the business of residential contracting work, in the capacity of a residential contractor in the City of Watertown, will be required to obtain a Residential Contractor's License before being issued a Building Permit. The application for a License will be made at the Building Services Office at the Watertown City Hall with proof of Liability Insurance, proof of Workers Compensation Insurance, proof of an Excise Tax Number, and $50 Annual License Fee.
.... Building Services will have the list of who’s registered and be checking during their regular inspections & anyone pulling a building permit will not be issued one until registered. For existing projects, the City will have a grace period until April 1st. Then, when City Officials go to a site and they don’t have a license they will be advised to do so with no penalties. On subsequent site visits, if no license is pulled it could result in additional fees, and in extreme cases, the job could be shut down.

EPA LEAD PAINT REMOVAL/CONTAINMENT CERTIFICATION - If you need training for certification to work on homes built before 1978 that may contain lead-based paint, the WAHBA office. We have started a sign-up sheet. A training class will be scheduled as the 25-seat goal is approached.

CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT OPERATOR CERTIFICATION - At the February monthly meeting, it was noted that OSHA has stepped up construction site inspections in the area. If you need training for certification to operate any construction equipment, let the Executive Officer know, so we can make arrangements to offer the required classes.
