The Briceville Public Library is a single room located within the Briceville Friendship Center at 921 Andy's Ridge Road, Briceville, TN 37710. The library is a 20 X 22 (420 sq) foot room with a separate entrance located along a deck on the side of the building facing a deli/grocery. The front of the building has a two-story tall garden mural. The Friendship Center is an outreach of the Anderson County Baptist Association. The Library has resided at the center since the 1970's. The Baptist Association has generously provided utilities for the library throughout the years.

To get an idea of the library's interior, go to the picture page on this site. The library has about 5000 items that include hard and paper back books, the videos and CDs, a large collection of genealogy materials, four computers with internet access, fax and copy availability, and the librarian is a notary.

Our summer reading programs have featured:
  • Ronald McDonald
  • The Knoxville Zoomobile
  • A trip to The Knoxville Museum of Art and Day at the Park
  • Guest Storytellers, Educators, and Musicians
  • Pizza Parties and Picnics...Food every day of program
  • Art Projects from various Cultures
AND SO MUCH MORE....ALL EXPENSES DONATED

No child that participates all summer will leave without an acknowledgement. Some of our awards have been:
  • UT jerseys (several autographed by P. Fulmer)
  • Fully stocked school backpacks (Every child)
  • Gift certificates to area restruants (Every child)
  • A wide variety of sporting equipment (Every child)
  • Gift certificates for department stores (Every child)
  • Stuffed animals and kid's meal prizes (Every child)
JUST TO NAME A FEW...ALL ITEMS DONATED

A new building will offer so much more to the community and surrounding area.
The library has a couple of students that are taking online college courses. What a wonderful thing it would be if there was an area where they could work without hearing every conversation whispered in the room.
And speaking of privacy, we offered free VITA tax preparation a few years ago (over 100 people used our service). We had to stop because the single room we have available offered the tax payer and the preparer very little room to work.
Afterhours, the library sponsored an adult computer course. Three area ladies completed a 101 computer class. Others have ask when we can offer the classes again.
Several musicians have offered to teach music to the area childern. Voice, guitar, banjo, piano and more. Imagine how many people could benefit from a location large enough to offer GED, online courses, book clubs, job fairs, free VITA tax help, storytimes (with room for children to sit in a group), classes in first aid, genealogy research, and the list goes on.
