The BRICEVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY  is located in a 20 X 22 foot room inside the Briceville Friendship Center on State Highway 116. We are three and one/half miles outside of Lake City, off Interstate 75, North of Knoxville, Tennessee.
In this small room, the library has five computers with internet access; an exceptional collection of genealogy books; the Heartland Video Series (and more); thousands of books; and lots of people of all ages.

Donations Needed
I realize that people are being constantly approached to financially support an organization. I know there are many worthy causes that need help.
The Briceville Public Library needs from two to three times our annual operating budget each year in order to provide for our needs.
I'm not looking for the million or thousand dollar donors, it's the people that send us their pocket change that really help us.
We have a regular donation of one hundred dollars a month from St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Oak Ridge that helps us so much.
The library usually needs from one to two thousand dollars a year to provide for basic disposable needs. Printers ink, copy paper, summer reading supplies, bathroom/cleaning supplies, office supplies, and children's supplies for homework. This may not sound like it should cost that much, but it adds up quickly.

An additional thousand dollars will help add to our book collection. At an average of $20 to $50 or more per book, this means from 20 - 50 (or less) books per year. We appreciate good used books, but we need to be able to provide new materials.
There are always emergencies that arise during the year. We need new filing cabinets and new shelving built. We would like to provide new comfortable seating at the computers. It's a relief to have at least a thousand dollars a year for these emergencies/needs.
We can always use more postage/stamps. We usually spend our budget months before the end of the fiscal year.
When my office computer bit the dust, BWXT came through with funding to purchase a new computer. A family pooled their donation giving funds and purchased a computer that we use to provide the Rosetta Stone to patrons.
Anyone wanting to help can contact us at the above address and phone number.

Summer Reading Program 2008
The Library is in the process of preparing for the 2008 Summer Reading Program.

"FIND OUT WHAT'S OUT THERE---A STARSHIP ADVENTURE!"
Any help is always appreciated. We always need reading incentives and awards.
Knoxville Museum of Art Workshop 2007
Last summer our libray in collaboration with the Knoxville Museum of Art and BWXT Y-12 offered four art workshops.

MEET THE MASTER CULTURAL OUTREACH

Students had the opportunity to personally work with an art master through this unique outreach program. Each session lasted 90 minutes and combined art history, art appreciation, and a take home hands-on art activity.

The workshops were Art and Culture of Native Americans and Mexican Folk Art.

Thanks to sponsorship from BWXT Y-12, there was no charge to participate.

New Shelving for Library
The library is looking brighter and less crowded due to the carpentry talent of Mr Earl Morgan. We now have beautiful magazine and pamphlet endcaps added to our shelves. Today, he finished placing shelves behind Daphne's crowded little desk so that she has room for our scanner (donated by Rose Waring)and genealogy materials, along with better storage space. He donated the materials and his time. Mr. Morgan is Daphne's husband's grandfather. The hard work is very much appreciated.
