Book Review Contributed by Daphne Windham The pawn: A Patrick bowers Thriller by Steven James When the cover page includes thriller, this book was not kidding! From the monent I picked up this book I couldn't put it down. The story starts off seemingly innocent enough, two teenagers home alone, you think they are going to make out, but no! It's a suicide pact, with a twist! Years later, Patrick Bowers with the FBI is called in on a serial killer case. The killer, or the "Illusionist" as he calls himself, stays one step ahead of Patrick and his team. Patrick is no ordinary FBI agent, he is a criminolist with an addiction to rare coffee. Patrick Bower's special brand of finding the killer and the way that author Steven James leads us into the secret inner workings of a serial killer's mind left me hanging on for more to the breathless end. This is a can't miss read! Book Review Contributed by Daphne Windham A Reliable Wife by Robert Goolrick This book starts off sad and dark, and continues from there. Ralph Truitt advertises for a "reliable wife" and Catherine Land responds that she is a "simple, honest woman". As soon as she arrives he knows that she is not who she claims to be. Ralph wants things from Catherine, like companionship, love, and his long lost son. Catherine plans to murder Ralph, but he thinks otherwise. So much tragedy in this book, do I even care if any of them die at the end. Read this book in one sitting! |
