| Mark your calendars for September 27 and October 25. 2008
The Hackworth Farm at 2913 Dutch Valley Road, Clinton is the site for two musical events to raise funds for the new Briceville Library Building. Hours for the September 27 event are 3:45 to 6:30 p.m. Four groups are on the program as advertising begins with at least two more to come. There will be a variety of music that will appeal to everyone. Bring your lawn chairs or blankets for the festival seating. There are acres of parking. No admission, however, 'the hat will be passed' for contributions. For more information or driving directions, please call 457-8173. See you at the farm on Saturday, September 27.2008 The BRICEVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY is located in a 20 X 22 foot room inside the Briceville Friendship Center on State Highway 116. We are three and one/half miles outside of Lake City, off Interstate 75, North of Knoxville, Tennessee. In this small room, the library has five computers with internet access; an exceptional collection of genealogy books; the Heartland Video Series (and more); thousands of books; and lots of people of all ages.

EVERY DONATIONS HELPS I realize that people are being constantly approached to financially support an organization. I know there are many worthy causes that need help. The Briceville Public Library needs about twice our annual operating budget each year in order to provide for our needs. I'm not looking for the million or thousand dollar donors, it's the people that send us their pocket change that really help us. We have a regular donation of one hundred dollars a month from St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Oak Ridge that helps us so much. The library usually needs about one thousand dollars a year to provide for basic disposable needs. Printers ink, copy paper, summer reading supplies, bathroom/cleaning supplies, office supplies, and children's supplies for homework. This may not sound like it should cost that much, but it adds up quickly. |
Additional dollars will help add to our book collection. At an average of $20 to $50 or more per book, new books are a major investment. We appreciate good used books, but we need to be able to provide new materials. There are always emergencies that arise during the year. It's a relief to have funds available for emergencies/needs. We can always use more postage/stamps. We usually spend our budget months before the end of the fiscal year. When my office computer bit the dust, BWXT came through with funding to purchase a new computer. A family pooled their donation giving funds and purchased a computer for our library. Anyone wanting to help can contact us at the above address and phone number.

Summer Reading Program 2008 The Library had a very successful 2008 Summer Reading Program. "FIND OUT WHAT'S OUT THERE---A STARSHIP ADVENTURE!" The children had special programs on Monday's and Tuesday's during the month of July. The rest of the week was spent reading and preparing for the next week. ![]() Jessica's "Alien's at the Library" Poster |
