Next month we will begin the Owl Prowl!! It's hard to believe that it is time for the SPRING fundraiser!! Time sure has flown by this year! Please check your children's backpacks starting in February for information concerning the Owl Prowl!
We will be sending home permission slips for the Owl Prowl on February 9th. The event this year will be held on Thursday, March 12th. Please get behind this fundraiser! We are going to need all the help we can get!

Starting Monday, January 12th, CES will be holding it's annual can food drive. The food drive will end on the 100th Day of School which is January 21st (unless it snows).

Next PTO meeting Feb. 5th at 6pm

The Nashville Ronald McDonald House (RMH) became an important part of Mrs. Karen Hackett's life 5 years ago when her husband and herself made it thier "Home Away from Home." They stayed there for 3 months while thier precious son, Jordon, was in Vanderbilt Children's Hospital. After Jordan passed away, they became supporters of the RMH. It's a home for 32 families with critically ill children and is run solely on donations. One of it's major fundraising efforts is recycling pull-tabs from aluminum cans.

Beginning in September, CES will participate in a mid-state pull-tab contest for the RMH. Last year, we came in second place out of 45 schools. Hopefully, with your help, this year we can be #1!!!

Please begin saving your pull-tabs, and send them in. There is a pull-tab tub just outside of Mrs. Karen Hackett's room. Thank you in advance for pulling for RMH!

On November 20, 2008 Snow Bird from Channel 4 (WSMV) came to our school and read books to K-2nd grade. We took some photos to show you how much fun the students had. Thanks to Mrs. Replogle for getting everything together and all the teachers who made or brought something for Snow Bird!!

Let's Pray For Snow!!!

On December 5th the Jaxco - our fundraiser company - put on the Perfection on Wheels BMX Bike Show.

Mr. Wiggins helped us by putting the BMX bike together that was the "grand prize." Thanks!! Mr. Wiggins!

The Value of One Member:

Ten little members standing in a line. One disliked the President, and then there were nine.

Nine members planned to work quite late. One forgot her promise and then there were eight.

Eight little members with good deeds of heaven. One lost her enthusiasm and then there were seven.

Seven regular members got into a fix. They quarreled over the program and then there were six.

Six little members very much alive. One moved away and then there were five.

Five little members wishing there were more. One became indifferent and then there were four.

Four little members cheerful as could be one complained of too many meetings, and then there were three.

Three eager members knew what to do. One joined a bridge club and then there were two.

Two faithful members, our rhyme is nearly done. One just got discouraged and then there was one.

One lone member won her neighbor true. Brought her to a meeting and then there were two.

Two earnest members each enrolled one more. That doubled their number and then was four.

Four sincere members worked and couldn't wait. Till each had won another and then there were eight.

Eight enthusiastic members got sixteen more.

And in just six more verses the enrollment is 1,024.

Meeting Schedule

Please note that we hold PTO Meetings every other month. Here is a list of the dates for the 2008-2009 school year.
Thursday, February 5th - 6:00pm
Thursday, April 2nd - 6:00pm
Thursday, May 7th - 6:00pm

All meetings are held in the library. We would love to see all parents attend at least one meeting this year. CES IS your child's future and we would love to hear what you want to see happen at our school!!

Teamwork!!

Earn CES Extra Money...

Let's Raise A Lot of Money in 2008/2009

We are doing a lot of Box Top Collecting. Please send in all the Box Tops that you have so we can see if we exceeded last year's numbers. Send to the first grade pod as soon as you can. We appreciate your support.

The clock is running out!

We have an extensive list of parents that we email on a regular basis just to remind you of events that are happening at CES.
If you are interested in adding your email info to our list, or if you need to update your current parent file, please email me at the bottom of the page.
Your email information is never shared with anyone. You will receive emails before PTO Meetings, before due dates, Owl Prowl information, etc. Never junk email!!

Never Forget

We need many volunteers throughout the school year. We know that most of you are NOT stay at home moms and dads. Every little minute will help CES. If you have an hour to help your childs teacher, please do so. They will appreciate you more than you will ever know.

Leave Your Footprints Behind...

If you look in the hallways at CES, you can see the footprints of many dedicated parents. You can leave your footprints behind as well! All you have to do is volunteer a minimum of 6 hours!! That's 6 hours all year!
Many of you know that there are many sets of foot prints going towards the library! We would love to see MORE this year!

Our PTO Walk-of-Fame is featured in August's PTOtoday Magazine. I am very execited to have something that I posted on www.ptotoday.com published!!
Because my topic was published the PTO will receive a $50.00 check from PTOtoday!!!

It's A Joy to Volunteer
I’ve been blessed with gifts and talents
To be used some special way.
To lend a hand or help someone
Who’s struggling day by day.
All it costs is my commitment
And a little extra caring.
While making a priority
Of reaching out and sharing.
And it’s a privilege working
For the causes I hold dear.
Just doing what I can to help
Each time I volunteer.
