A Cry is Heard - The GBMI Story A CRY IS HEARD!
![]()
Introduction ....A cry comes from the black community saying, "Don't send us any more preachers! Send us missionaries that can preach and are able to deal with problems that are unique to our community". This cry causes us to investigate and to look into the need for missionaries to intensify their focus by interacting with local community needs ....
Year after year millions of dollars are spent in other countries when right here at home is one of the most neglected mission fields in all the world .... THE BLACK COMMUNITY !
The 2000 U.S. Census reported that there are over 30 millions black people here in North America. This black community makes up the second largest minority group in the U.S.
While this is true, this would make the black community a mission field six times larger than Cambodia, North or South Vietnam, or six times larger than any country in Latin American, and all but one country in South America and Africa. You can agree that the black community in this country comprise a tremendous mission field.
It is recognized that missionaries labor against tremendous odds to get food, medicine, and the gospel to many people in desperate need. Many clergymen throw up their hands in despair as they try to repair broken homes, advise single parent families, and provide proper guidance in the never ending drug war.
Often these problems are intensified due to a lack of individual or collective resources. Young minority men are killed and incarcerated at an alarming rate for crimes that may have been prevented by proper intervention.
As an missinary/evangelist, I have traveled across this country for twenty years. During those years of travel, I saw the great neglect of churches failing to reach these people. As a result of this neglect, God has burdened my heart to raise a ministry to reach out to my people - the black community.
Consequently, Global Baptist Ministries, Inc. was born as a church planting ministry to carry a message of life-changing hope to a community where there is no hope. And to train Christian workers to become competent missionaries to those people in need.

THE START OF THE MINISTRY ....In the early spring of 1986, God began to burden Dr. R.C. Reynolds very heavily about doing a work that would impact the world. A vision of outreach to help meet needs of people through missionary service.
He then began to share his burden with ministers and mission board directors, who were close friends of his, and get feed back from those who were involved with outreach programs about starting a new work.
Dr. Reynolds soon discovered that each visit would result in the same thing. "Because, we have over 1500 mission boards in the USA," they would said, "we don't need another one." This would lead him to ask, "What are you doing now to reach the black communities?" After a moment of silence, they would softly reply, "...We're not doing anything to reach your people..."
With a burden to reach his people in the black community and assist local pastors with the same burden, he set out to establish such a mission board. His ministry would not just be limited to him, he would soon see the vision of many others he would work with. A vision of men and women to reach the multitudes in need. This vision would turn out to be the mission board he has today!

THE SUCCESS OF THE MINISTRY ....
What makes Global Baptist Ministries, Inc. so successful is the qualification of the ministry's leadership. It's Founder and Director, Dr. R.C Reynolds, is a direct product of the traditional church and the community from which this "cry" comes from.
First, you must understand that the traditional church in the black community is steeped in religion and tradition. This is not Christianity. Dr. Reynolds was 34 years old before he accepted Christ when he realized that it is Christ who saves and not religion or tradition.
In following God's call and in obedience to the Scriptures, Dr. R.C. Reynolds has dedicated his life to impact the black community with the gospel of Christ.
Missionaries sent out through this board also contribute to this success by qualifying in several areas such as school training, spiritual equipment, sound convictions, and exposure to community needs and problems both spiritual and physical.
