***PLEASE SCROLL DOWN TO READ AN OPEN LETTER FROM PARENTS OF HOOPITUP STUDENT.***

STUDENTS: email HoopItUp with success stories from your games this season and we will post them here!

Congratulations to Jaclissa Haislip of Murfreesboro Riverdale High School. Jaclissa has just recently commited to continue her basketball career at the University of Tennessee-Martin. Jay's career has included state and national championships at the AAU level and was also a member of the TN Flight's 2008 Nike National Championship team. Jay's early career led her to the Murfreesboro Lady Belles, where Coach Sellers first met and coached Jay. Coach Sellers has often said she is one of the most talented players he has ever seen play. Best of luck Jay!

HoopItUp Academy Sessions Are A Huge Success

An open letter from parents of a local student.

Mike,

Hey, I wanted to let you know that our daughter made the JV team at her middle school. We wanted to THANK you for all your help with her. She really was having some confidence issues. You were always encouraging and helpful. Also, working with the older girls helped her with her anxiety about playing with older, bigger girls. They cut out the 6th grade team at the county schools this year. Being on JV will require her to play and practice with the 7th and 8th graders, and she is comfortable with that now. She said the 8th graders were giving her high fives at tryouts. She still has alot of work to do, but she is well on her way. I wanted to let you know how she did and thank you for your help in MANY areas! There was alot of competition at tryouts. I think 63 girls tried out. 26 were 6th graders and 3 6th graders made the team(one being our daughter). Another student that you have been helping on Sats made it too. Alot of what they did at tryouts was all the skills that you worked on with them every week. We will recommend your camps to everyone we know. And our daughter will be back to other camps you offer in the future! Thanks again for your help and patience! ! ! We REALLY appreciate you!

Sessions are designed to train and accent individual skills development and prepare each student for the upcoming school and league teams/tryouts. Groups include a maximum of 12-14 students so more individual attention and opportunities are available for each student. During these group sessions, each student will be able to practice and apply what they have been taught against other students in 1 on 1, 2 on 2, and 5 on 5 situations. Sessions are open to girls and boys in grades 1-6 and girls only in grades 7-8. Every effort will be made to group students with others in similar age, grade and ability. These sessions will help get your child ready for school team tryouts. It is of utmost importance that each student attend each of these Fall sessions.

Building Individual Skills
  • Explosive offensive moves
  • Advanced ball-handling
  • Defensive/offensive drills
  • Perfected fundamentals
  • Game speed environment
  • Shooting performance drills
  • Physical/mental conditioning
  • Individual/group competitions
  • Offense/defense positioning
  • Intense man defense taught
What can HoopItUp do for your child?
HoopItUp Basketball places an emphasis on good fundamentals, proper form, correct positioning and proper mechanics. These are all things that require a more individual attention to help in the growth of the young player. These are things that school, travel and rec league teams do not have the time to teach. For your child to take their game to its highest level this is the type training that they need. HoopItUp instructors have the background success and proper teaching programs to help transform your child into a better player.

It Takes Commitment
The HoopItUp Academy training sessions are not one day or one week events. It is weekly sessions of 1-2 hours each over many weeks. The serious players practice and train year round. This is the HoopItUp philosophy. Students are in training, learning and enhancing new skills prior to and during their school season and travel team off-season. This is usually from August-March. As you can see, these sessions require commitment from parents and players alike to achieve the improvements desired from each student. These sessions are NOT week to week, come when you want sessions. They require a continual training on a weekly basis to reach the level of improvement needed to advance your game.
