Please join us for support meetings, playgroups, bookgroups, Mom's Nights Out and more. Our Yahoo group is the portal to our community. You'll find our calendar, information, support and conversation there.

The mission of API is to educate and support all parents in raising secure, joyful, and empathic children in order to strengthen families and create a more compassionate world. API promotes parenting practices that create strong, healthy emotional bonds between children and their parents.

In essence, Attachment Parenting is about forming and nurturing strong connections between parents and their children. Attachment Parenting challenges us as parents to treat our children with kindness, respect and dignity, and to model in our interactions with them the way we'd like them to interact with others.

Upcoming Support Meetings:

3rd Saturdays: Feb. 16, March 15, April 19 & May 17, 10:30am
Parenting Oasis, 3901 Chicago Ave S., Minneapolis (contact TwinCitiesAPI@gmail.com with questions)

February 16: Attachment Parenting for the ‘Other Half’ - Dads and partners are parents too and need support for the hard work they do. We will explore some of the challenges faced by partners and ways to keep connected and involved.

March 15: Staying Attached: Parenting the Older Child - Attachment parenting isn’t just for babies. How do parents stay attached over the years? We will discuss the changing needs of our children and tips for maintaining a close, loving relationship and open communication.

April 19: Single Parents, Working Parents - Maintaining a strong connection with your children can be a challenge when you are faced with separation for work or other obligations. Single parents also face unique challenges, such as building strong attachments when children spend part of their time with the other parent, or shouldering sole responsibility for supporting and nurturing their children. Please join us for ideas and support.

May 17: Raising Kids in a Materialistic Society - We want the best for our kids. How can we give them what they need without spoiling them or fostering a sense of entitlement? Some issues are demonstrating good money habits, dealing with gifts, and the role of rewards in teaching our children.

Our Goal

The goal of Twin Cities API is to provide a supportive environment for parents interested in and/or practicing the elements of Attachment Parenting. API support groups provide a means of learning attachment parenting, a place to share ideas and ongoing child rearing concerns, and a safe haven where parents can communicate openly about their choices. We are open to all families interested in AP.
