Resting in Chickamauga
August 2008

We had 62 Vintage Roses and Red Hatter friends for a Saturday train ride for the Chickamauga Turn! Along with train songs and a delicious lunch in the dining car, stories from a wonderful (and historically dressed) Civil War tour guide, Jonathan, we visited Chickamauga for shopping and the Wilder Tower at Chickamauga Battlefield. Ask Darla or Cathy or Jenny how many steps up to the top of the Wilder...they should know! Except for an unscheduled stop on the tracks in the "wilds", we had a wonderful trip....some local teens even got involved, chasing our Red Hatters' train in their own red convertible, meeting us at several railroad crossings to wave!

September 3, 2008:
Field Trip to Dayton for shopping for Glema’s Red Hats and Jewelry!

We had a beautiful drive up to Dayton after gathering together at the Northgate Mall.
While we were enjoying a delicious country-style lunch at a small cafe,
Queen Anna of the Sweet n’ Sassies
heard we were in town so she came by to say “Hi”.
After the meal, we all went to Glema’s for SHOPPING!
Everyone bought hats and jewels,

some even got hat sizing tape to make a too-large hat fit just right!

Our first time new member, Linda, got the door prize and had
so much fun that her mother may join us too!
Linda's mom has some red hattin’ experience, and she and Linda should feel right at home with our many other Mom/daughter/or daughter-in-law, and sisters and sisters-in-law Vintage Roses!
Many of our ladies ARE related, and all of us feel like spirit sisters!
