2011-2012 Public Relations Committee Double Whammy CHALLENGE Thank you to everyone that purchased a raffle ticket at Department Convention in Odessa and at DEC. Would you like to know where that money is being spent and how it can help you and your unit? We were very proud to award all of the funds collected on the raffle hat at DEC to the AEF to help members who have been devastated by the recent fires and/or other disasters. Funds collected from the raffle hat at the Department Convention in Odessa are being used to further promote Public Relations in Texas. The Public Relations Committee will be purchasing Gift Subscriptions to the American Legion Auxiliary National news magazine Auxiliary for every VA Hospital in Texas. Now for the Challenge: We, the Public Relation Committee, Department of Texas, hereby challenge all Divisions, Districts and Units to further the gift subscriptions in Texas by purchasing at least one or more gift subscriptions for your local VA Outpatient Clinic as well as considering locals doctors, dentists, and other such facilities with a gift subscription for their waiting rooms. (Especially those who serve veterans who may not go to the VA clinic in their area). At Department Convention 2012 in Houston, awards will be presented to the Divisions, Districts and/or Units who have met this challenge. A special prize will be awarded to the highest number of gift subscriptions given between now and Department Convention. Don’t let being in a small town or not having a VA clinic in your immediate area slow you down! Gift subscriptions can be given to anyone and for only $15.00 each and what better way to get the word out about who we are and what we do. The second part of the Challenge is to encourage you to send in news from your unit, district and division about what is going on. Let’s get TEXAS in this magazine as often as possible. Again, an award will be given to the one/s who give the most gift subscriptions by Department Convention 2012 in Houston
