Motto and Goal for 2011-2012

Motto

Altrusans – Wearing the Shoes of Success

Goals

    1. Put on our tennis shoes to go the extra mile and spread the word of who we are to increase awareness in the community.
    2. Put on our party shoes! Let’s show everyone how much fun we have and increase membership by at least 25%.
    3. Put on your heels and get “pumped” up!! Get involved and inspire those around us to get involved!!
    4. Put on our work boots and work with other organizations in our area to improve our community with a county-wide service project.

Age shouldn't affect you. It's just like the size of your shoes - they don't determine how you live your life! You're either marvelous or you're boring, regardless of your age. Steven Morrissey

REMEMBERANCE
John Salisbury wrote in 1159: "Bernard of Chartres used to say that we are like dwarfs on the shoulders of giants, so that we can see more than they, and things at a greater distance, not by virtue of any sharpness of sight on our part, or any physical distinction, but because we are carried high and raised up by their great size".

Altusa International, Inc. of Anderson County members of today have been carried on the shoulders of the following Altrusa giants, who regretfully no longer walk among us:

    Clementine Denson - President 1964-1965 and 1970-1971
    Dixie Shugart - President 1972-1974
    Maxine Green - President 1982-1983
    Fern Cooper
    June Brede
    Gladys Hardin - President 1969-1970
    Flora Townsend - President 1975-1976
    Gladys Dunbar
    Nelwyn Mitchell
    Sue Calhoun
    Helen Canady - President 1971-1972
    Marie Larue
    Leann Bunnell
