The interesting thing about this one is that it is only the label. The man who sent this to me had it returned to him because the Egyptian post office thought it was inappropriate (and suspicious) that he was sending a can of corn to America. He got around it by just sending the label.

CAN CORN COLLECTING TIPS

There are several things I've learned over the course of my can corn collecting adventures:
1. It is always better to ask for regular tops, not the new popular pop tops. See the pictures below for reasons.
2. If the cost is prohibitive for someone then suggest they carefully remove the label and send it between cardboard or something like that. Simply find a can here at home to paste it back onto for display.
3. Approach people on penpal/swapping sites to find those who are willing to trade for such a thing. Ask them what they might like from the states and you have a trade.
4. Always ask people to box and pad your can well because the postal system is terribly hard on things. If you don't you might recieve a terribly dented can-- like my can from Japan. This is frustrating, but again you can carefully remove the label and place it on another can.
5. I don't honestly expect that anyone really wants advice on how to collect such a bizarre thing, but I like to fancy myself the canned corn collecting expert of the world. ;)

If you are going to collect canned corn, or any other canned vegtable you need to request tops like this if possible.

Pop tops like this do not fare well over long distances. I've found that either brutal postal handling or unpressurized cargo holds tend to blow these up. I once recieved a green oozing package from Sweden. The pop top had exploded and the mess had rotted in transit. It was pretty gross.
