Our outings are every 3rd Saturday of the month and normally at 11:30AM. Occasionally, we change the time to fit with an event schedule. Those of us that have the time, also flit around with some of our sister chapters at multi-chapter events!! Check our Outings Page for upcoming events!!

This was Gretchen’s second planning for us this year. Thanks so much for taking care of it for us. My husband (WT) and I were out of town and it was wonderful knowing that our chapter was in good hands while I was gone. Below is Gretchen’s report on the fun that they all had!! Kathy and Odessa arrived a few minutes early and had time to peek in Trudy's before lunch. We gathered at Te House of Tea for lunch, and Kathy, Odessa, and Gretchen were all sold on the Saturday salad plate special. Kathy and Odessa had it with chamomile tea, while Gretchen had "Mandarin Mystery" green tea. Marie and Carol each ordered the chicken in a blanket with side salad; Carol had Brazilian Red tea, and Marie just drank water. All of the food was very tasty. After lunch we went over to Trudy's to see what she might have to fit. Odessa, Marie, and Carol did not find anything that piques their fancy, and they continued on to a sample sale over on Bering Drive, Kathy and Gretchen did really well in the footwear room. Gretchen bought a like-new pair of Stuart Weizman's, and Kathy bought four pair of footwear for her daughters!! Everything was at very reasonable prices for the quality of merchandise, so it was a very successful outing. Next month Kathy will be hosting a get together at her house for us to all visit and play Bunco. This should be a real treat for those of you that have never played. It is a lot of fun and is very simple to play….it requires no skill….it’s all just luck….the roll of the dice!! Hugs........Dana ![]() Thought of the Month: "Never refuse any advance of friendship, for if nine out of ten bring you nothing, one alone may repay you." - Madame de Tencin Health Tips: from various web sites Removing Mercury from your Body Mercury is a heavy metal that collects in the human body over the years. Where does Mercury Come From? First, mercury used to be used in dental fillings, so many people who had cavities in the past few decades now have a mouth full of mercury. That mercury slowly leeches out into the person's system. Second, mercury is naturally found in the ocean. Since it accumulates in a body over time, it is the large, old fish who have the most mercury in them - and therefore are the fish that you can get the most mercury from when you eat them. Scientists now recommend that even light-mercury fish like tuna only be eaten once a week to avoid mercury poisoning. Helpful Vitamins for Removing Mercury As with any operation of your body, certain vitamins and minerals are critical to help your organs perform their proper functions. In the series of events required to flush mercury from your system, these vitamins and minerals are used: * Selenium (brazil nuts, tuna, cod, turkey and chicken) * Iron (red meat, egg yolks) * Zinc (beef, pork, chicken) * Manganese (nuts, green vegetables, tea) * Sulfur (eggs, garlic) Garlic will bond with mercury in the body and help flush it out of the body. Eggs, broccoli, cabbage, sesame seeds, butter, veal, lamb, avocado, asparagus, parsley are also recommended to help flush it from the system. Historical Note: The phrase "mad as a hatter" comes from the poisoning that those who made hats from felt got. They were slowly poisoned from the mercury in the felt. The mercury would cause tremors and other symptoms. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
