OUR MISSION STATEMENT:             

To establish a welcoming, safe, environment for all our Comfort Youth. To provide for after school fun, learning, and bonding under the mentoring leadership of Comfort High School student volunteers with adult supervision. To establish, expand or improve recreational facilities throughout the community to serve our youth. Emphasis to be placed on positive role modeling to influence our youth's direction and their future.


***NEXT CAYC Goal will be presented to the CISD School Board Meeting on August 11,2008. ***

Meetings are held at the Wells Fargo Bank., here in Comfort.


CAYC Next meeing has been changed due to the August 11, 2008 meeting with the CISD School Board.
 
NEWS

  The Comfort Area Youth Commission has developed a collaboration with the Boys and Girls Club of the Texas Hill Country. There will be two boards working together to provide ongoing support for the benefit of our youth of this community. Boys & Girls Club Unity Advisory Council:

Chair: Gary Lindner, Vice Chair: Yvonne Marshall, Secretary: Tracie Eicholz, Treasurer: Lindsay Saur

Matt Henn will head facilities at BGC, Jim & Robin Frost will head publicity for BGC, and we are still looking for someone to head up the Fundraising Fommittee

 
ACCOMPLISHMENTS

A coordinated effort between our Church Community, School District and Comunity volunteers saw the launch of the CATS Den at the Lutheran Church's Youth House on May 8th, 2006. This Youth Program provides the following each Monday AND Wednesday from 3pm to 6pm.

  • Computer room for homework & games
  • TV/Video room for entertainment
  • Study room for non-computer homework, tutoring & reading
  • Music room with piano & Keyboard
  • Ping Pong table
  • The Den is staffed by High School mentor vounteers and an adult volunteer.
  • Lighted basketball court at Altgelt Field
  • 2nd basketball court is complete!
  • Development of youth soccer field at 8th and Broadway underway. Papers have been signed and the parameters and cleanup are in progress.
  • Funded snacks & additional entertainment equipment at DEN
  • Fund speaker programs of teen interest
  • 5013C3 status
  • 4th of 10/28/06

  • Lights have been purchased and installed at Altgelt and Faltin Fields
  •   GOALS, "TO DO'S" & WISH LIST

    Long Term Goals:

  • Establish permanent facilities and professional staff to expand to a full time program
  • Exploring land donation or pool Complex
  • Purchase of Passenger Van


    CAYC "To Do's" & Wish List:

  • Light Little League ball field (holes have been completed by LCRA)

  • Convert existing county buildings at Altgelt Field for youth facilities once Kendall County Road & Bridges move material
  • 5th grade 1 day transition camps
  • 8th grade transition - 1 week program
  • Grant Writing
