Raise Your Hand to Volunteer For CBE!

Dear Parents,
Please contribute your time and talents to help our children and teachers at Colony Bend Elementary by volunteering at CBE this year!
There are many ways to help a few of which are described below. If you have any questions, feel free to contact our VIPS (Volunteers In Public Schools)coordinator Kimberly McGeehon (kmcgeehon@yahoo.com /281-491-7268).

Ready to sign up?
Print and fill out the form below (only one form per family). Then, return it to your child's teacher. It's as simple as that!

Also, please be sure and fill out a background check (required by the disctrict every year). To complete the online registration process do the following:

  1. Go to www.fortbendisd.com
  2. Click on Be A Volunteer on the left hand side of the screen
  3. Click on Criminal History Checks" on the right hand side of the screen
  4. Click on Online Volunteer Registration, Register Here

Volunteer Descriptions: (“*”denotes areas that are great for working parents!)

Room Parent

  • attends and helps coordinate two class parties(winter and Valentine’s Day) with the help of an assistant
  • assists grade level coordinator by organizing volunteers from your class for special events (carnival, field trips, special grade level activities, etc.)

Assistant Room Parent

  • provides assistance to the room parent with the above activities

Friday Folders(approximately once a month)

  • come to school at the end of the day on Fridays (2:00) and place notes and papers in your grade levels Friday Folders.
  • This is a very simple task and a great help to the teachers.

*Home Projects

  • work on simple projects at home for your child’s teacher as needed
  • Projects may include cutting, gluing, etc.
  • The teacher will provide an explanation about what they need done and provide any materials needed to complete the project.
  • These projects can often be sent home with your child and this is a great way to help if you are a working parent or find it difficult to come to school to volunteer

Teacher Center (located on Sweetwater near Williams Trace)

  • Work on projects provided by the teacher using materials and equipment located at the center
  • There are assistants there that can help you and answer any questions you may have
  • Note: Children are not allowed at the Teacher’s Center

Kindergarten Lunch (approximately once a week, 30 minutes at 10:30 a.m.)

  • help the kindergarten teachers supervise our youngest CBE Eagles during their lunch time

*Hospitality

  • Assist the Hospitality coordinator by hosting or providing food items, such as cookies, cakes, etc, for teacher appreciation events several times during the year
  • Items typically can be sent to school the day of the event in the morning

*Science Night

  • A school-wide, evening event where each grade level sponsors a simple, fun hands-on science experiment for the children to participate in
  • The experiment is provided, we will need parents to help set up and supervise the event

Turkey Trot

  • attend this school-wide event and provide water bottles for your class as they walk at the school and raise funds and awareness for this Diabetes Organization

*Carnival

  • a school-wide event with games and food, typically in the evening

Field Day

  • a morning event at the end of the year where students play games outside

Shared Dreams

  • a FBISD program that collects clothing, etc. for needy students

School Store

  • a campus-based “store” that sells school supplies several times a week
