What We Believe

Despite being able to discuss doctrine in a civil manner, there are certain doctrinal positions that are very clear in the Bible and can't be misinterpreted, and can only be misconstrued by inserting our own “opinion” and wishful thinking into the matter. We are believers in what is called the “Full Gospel” tradition, and sometimes called Pentecostal, or Charismatic. We believe the Bible says what it means and means what it says, and that nothing in it has passed away simply because the original 12 apostles died. There are only a few areas that need interpretation such as dreams, visions, and parables. When there seems to be evidence going different directions, the weight of the evidence and the determination of which kingdom (God or the devil) is in operation should be the determining factor for interpretation. The consumption of alcohol is an example. There are scriptures both pro and con, but since the Bible is clear that drunkards will not inherit the kingdom of God, and since drunkenness is destructive and thus clearly not in God’s kingdom, the smart thing to do is to avoid the consumption of alcohol.
We believe the following doctrinal statements of Christianity cannot be compromised.
1. The Bible was written by holy men of old, who were directed by the Holy Spirit and all of the Bible is true. If anyone believes any part of it is not true, then what they do believe also becomes suspect.
2. God is one God but made up of three parts, the Father, The Word of God who is the Son of God and became a flesh and blood man named Jesus to pay for sin, and the third part is the Holy Spirit.
3. Jesus the Christ (Messiah) was born of a virgin woman named Mary, and his Father was not a natural man, but was God the Holy Spirit. Thus Jesus came as a man, but was God in the flesh stripping himself of all divine privileges so as to be able to pay the price for sin as a flesh and blood man.
4. The sacrifice and shed blood of Jesus is the only atonement for sin. We believe the Bible is perfectly clear and teaches against several moral issues of our time i.e. living with someone out of wedlock, abortion, and homosexuality. However, there is forgiveness for these sins through genuine repentance made available through the shed blood of Jesus Christ, and receiving him as both Savior and Lord.
5. The crucifixion, death, and resurrection of Jesus is real and that same power that raised him from the dead will raise those from the dead who believe in him, have repented of sin, and acknowledge Him as both Lord and Savior. (Be born again). There is no other path to heaven except through Christ Jesus. We believe it is necessary to "love one another as I have loved you" as Jesus taught, which leads to living a holy life.
6. Believers go to a literal heaven to be with a literal God, and unrepentent sinners go to a literal hell to be with a literal devil and to be tormented eternally. These beliefs are basic "evangelical" beliefs and it is sad that many many seminaries in this country today teach against many or all of these, and have shipwrecked many lives. Our position has come from understanding that all prophecies in the Bible that point up to the present time have come to pass, and the rest are soon to be fulfilled as the age comes to a close. Concluding evidence is that God promised that signs, wonders, and miracles would follow the preaching of the Word. We have seen this demonstrated time after time in our own lives and the lives of others. After being deceived by the evil one for many years, I have come to know the truth through seeking God in his Word, and then having him show up to confirm it. Praise the Lord! |
