May 2008 DFW FRUA Events
MAY 31, 2008, Saturday, 4:00 - 7:00 pm
Dear Friends,
The DFW FRUA annual picnic will be held this month on Saturday, May 31. This year the picnic will be at a new location, Little Elm Park on Lake Lewisville. The Town of Little Elm is letting us have the pavilion area from 2:30 - 8:00 pm to allow extra time for set-up and clean-up. We will start serving food around 4:00pm. Feel free to come out early to enjoy all the great things the park has to offer.
- Covered pavilion with picnic tables
- Sand volleyball courts
- Playground
- Beach (sorry no lifeguard on duty)
- Lots of open areas to play Frisbee, soccer, toss a football
- Beautiful view of the lake
DFW FRUA will be providing hot dogs and drinks. Please bring a side dish or dessert to share. In order to get an accurate headcount for food please RSVP by May 28 to Beth Euler at beuler@aironets.com or (972) 754-6779.
Little Elm Park is located on Eldorado Parkway/FM 720 in the Town of Little Elm which is between Frisco and Denton, and northwest of The Colony.
From Ft. Worth -
Take I35N to Hwy 380 in Denton
Turn right on to Hwy 380 East to FM 720 (12 miles)
Turn right at light on to FM 720/Eldorado (5 miles)
After you cross the bridge over Lake Lewisville the park will be on your left
From Dallas -
Take Dallas North Tollway and exit at Eldorado Parkway/FM 720
Turn left on to Eldorado Parkway
Once you pass the football stadium on your right you will go a few more miles. The park will be on your right just after you pass through the stop light (Key's grocery store on right). If you cross the bridge going over Lake Lewisville then you’ve gone too far. The park is on the right just before you come to the bridge.
From McKinney -
Take Hwy 380 West to FM 423
Turn left on to FM 423
Turn right on FM 720/Eldorado Parkway (Lowes on right, Walmart on left)
Once you pass the football stadium on your right you will go a few more miles. The park will be on your right just after you pass through the stop light (Key's grocery store on right). If you cross the bridge going over Lake Lewisville then you’ve gone too far. The park is on the right just before you come to the bridge.
We look forward to seeing everyone at the picnic.

Orphanage Support Project Update
With the success of our Chapter’s Orphanage Support Fundraising, we were able to fund the purchase of a playground. At our April 2005 meeting, the Chapter Members voted on funding one of three projects presented. Our Members voted to support this project for a total of $2500. DFW FRUA has also applied to National FRUA for a $500 grant match to fund this project. (Full Story)
