“DFW Sporting Dog Tournament"                                                 is a non-association working canine event that has been composed to evaluate a personal protection dog and his/her training. Personal protection (PP) dogs and handlers in this event will be scored on different levels of test, and will get a honest evaluation on their training program. The basics fundamentals of a PP dog will be tested; including social ability, environmentals, & controlled aggression.

DFW Sporting Dog is open to all breeds, ages and levels of training. Therefore puppies, green dogs, and seasoned veteran PP dogs are invited. This is just a mere social event to get local Dallas/Ft Worth working dog trainers a chance to compete, socialize, and build a network amongst other canine fanciers.

HEEL!!!

DFW SPORTING DOG WAS SUCCESSFUL!
Thanks to everyone who came out to support my first trial. We had a total of 45 dogs that entered. We had several very nice exotic breeds to compete also.

What people said about the trial?

Aaron & Roxanne-We had a great time out there and think all of your hard work in organizing the event was obvious. Thanks so much!

Tom K-I am glad it turned out so good for you. Everyone was doing a great job out there in the ring/course, at the sign-in and a special Thanks should go to the decoys for doing such a good job in the heat to beat it all!

Bruno-thank you so much for putting together a such well orchrestred show,I can imagine how much preparation it takes to get it done right .... Job well done .... looking forward to the next one.

Lynn-Everybody I talked to out there said they totally enjoyed the event and the place it was held. I was very satisfied same as the rest. There was lots of shade for our dogs in cars and the entry options were fun for all.

Khio Pham-Man you did great, I don't know how you could do all that, too much of a headache for me,Later, again great trial.

Wonderful dog! Great video! I went to your last event in Forest Hill and enjoyed it very much! I have Malinda Julien Shepherds (three of them! LOL) but I show in AKC/UKC obedience and tracking. I enjoy watching properly trained protection dogs and I was very impressed with your club, the people, and their dogs. Good work and I wish you all the best! Sincerely, Marci www.marci-linn.net

Hi there DeWon,first again I would like to say I most certainly do not want to sound so negative about the trial. There was so very little that could have been changed and with that many people's opinions would change as well. You did an excellent job! In my opinion, for the same reason you call it the DFW "Sporting" Dog Tournament it is in fact un-sportsman like conduct to run dogs completely off the field. Experienced judges will be able to see within the first few seconds whether a dog will bite or not. Hence the object of the game has been completed. As a "sport" one should then allow the dog to win and try to offer a bite. I truly understand your intentions and I wish other trials were as difficult to a particular degree, however the word "sport" should mean something. We are not out there to ruin dogs and/or their training programs, instead we test the dog's and/or handler's ability. Semper Fi Respectfully, Robert Boudreau www.mtfdogs.com

"Dewon's Reply- Hello Rob, my judge ask the K9 teams to exit the field after the K9's didn't engage or protect the handler in the first two scenarios. The handlers REFUSE to exit the field. One handler stated "I paid my money, I want to compete the trial". DFW Sporting Dog has a new policy because of this. If your dog doesn't show interest/or protect the handler in the first two scenarios, the K9 team must exit the field, but will get a reward bite at the exit gate. Rob thanks for your support my friend!
