History
“Respect, Educate and Protect" and “Strength In Unity”
“The Foundation For Family Victims Of Substance Abuse began in 1994 when Mr. Richard H. Dix, Sr. had a vision of two logos and the phrases:My Father believed by using these words as a philosophy lives could be positively changed, and that change could be reflected throughout our society. We began working on the concept, later joined by my son, (his grandson) and with input by my brother, as a family we began working to achieve the completion of his vision.
 Richard H. Dix
Initially we began with T-shirts and Caps utilizing the Triangle (symbolizing the equal importance of our foundational principles Respect, Education, and Protection) and Three Linked Chain (symbolizing the strength which is found in unity).

After becoming aware of the depths of despair in the struggle of a loved one with a substance abuse problem, and how wide spread the problem was we found a cause to accompany the Logos and Phrases. In so doing The Foundation For Family Victims of Substance Abuse, was created. ”

I Speak The Voice
I speak the voice of endless generations,
from slave to modern slave,
working only to survive,
never to advance.
Memories, dreams, expectations
which may never be achieved.
Yet dreaming dreams of influence, affluence, and prosperity.
I speak the voice of endless generations,
from slave to modern slave,
working only to survive, never to advance. Dr. Anita Dix-McLaughlin
“I credit many of the topics for my poetry, and other literary works to my interaction with those I serve. I learned first hand about these families; their lives, their pain and concerns. Incorporating the experiences of others with my own I attempt to address areas which may otherwise have little exposure. I choose to focus on the issues relating to emotional healing to give voice to those who cannot speak for themselves. My goal is to appeal the cause of the poor and needy, to enlighten others on their challenges.
