Mission Statement The purpose of Jackson County Happy Tails is to take in strays and owner-relinquished pets, and to rescue adoptable dogs from the local pound. Once they have been evaluated and deemed adoptable, we will strive to give them quality care until they are adopted out. We will also provide education for the community to increase responsible pet ownership. Recent Accomplishments: In 2007, the number of dogs euthanized at the Edna City Pound was 199 and the the number of dogs adopted out was only 26. Happy Tails Organization started volunteering our time at the City Pound in June of 2008 and that year 100 dogs were euthanized and 66 adopted out. In 2009, (we worked there every day), the number of dogs euthanized was only 21 and the there were 136 adopted out. Wow! We do feel good about these statistics, think of how much more we could do with an actual shelter. Remember, we have the land and water. We even have an architect drawing up plans but not enough money to start building yet! |
