Social Events

On this page you will find a brief description of the Social Events hosted and coordinated by Homeschoolers Hearts and Hugs. These events are open ONLY to current Homeschoolers Hearts and Hugs members. (for social events open to non-members of Hearts and Hugs, please see "Homeschool Happenings") Some Social events will be in conjunction with, or immediately after, a field trip or volunteer project, while others will be "stand-alone" events. Please note, we also schedule "last minute" social events as opportunities become available.
When signing up for field trips, volunteer activities or social events please include your FULL NAME, contact information and number of adults and children attending, INCLUDING THEIR AGES. It is very important that you RSVP to ensure you are notified in the event an activity has to be rescheduled. Since the majority of our activities require we confirm the number of participants prior to the event, please abide by sign up deadlines.
Social Events are open to Hearts & Hugs members only.

We'll be meeting for a picnic after the Greet the Soldiers volunteer project. (see VOLUNTEER PROJECTS page for more info.) DECEMBER 2009

It's time for our annual Valentine's Pizza Party & Card Exchange! We will be meeting at Ci Ci's Pizza, located at 1896 W. Moore Ave. (Hwy. 80) in Terrell. This is at the intersection of HWY. 80 (Moore St.) and HWY. 205 out of Rockwall. (Terrell is approx. 15-20 mins. from both Mesquite and Rockwall)
We will have a Valentines card exchange as well as crafts and games for the children, and parents and children alike can "stuff" themselves on the all you can eat pizza, salad and pasta buffet! Don't forget, Ci Ci's has brownies and cinnamon rolls, too!
Buffet prices will be regular price. Participants are not required to purchase a meal, but if you wish to do so, meals will be purchased individually. (not as a group)
We will meet at 11:30 a.m., and families generally stay a couple of hours, but this is a come and go event so just come when you can! We'll be there until at least 1:30 or so! (maybe later!)
Things to take along:
*Please be aware this particular Ci Ci's does not accept debit/credit cards. However, they do have an on-site ATM (for a fee). They DO accept checks.
Anyone wishing to help with crafts or games, please state that in your email!
Everyone had a great time last year, and we can't wait for this years' party!

APRIL 2010
This year, we'll be meeting an area park for our annual Easter Social and picnic!
We'll meet around noon (immediately after our post office field trip) and have a picnic lunch and do some fun Easter activities. Feel free to take along various items to share. (balls, bubbles, kites, etc.) We will have egg dye and disposable cups available so the kids can dye eggs. (each family should take enough boiled eggs for their family) We will also have an Easter Story presentation using the Resurrection Eggs, and an Easter egg hunt!

Join us for our annual End of School Bash and Meet 'n Greet scheduled for May 21st at the Forney Community Park! This will be a "come and go" event, beginning at noon, so drop in at your convenience---or come and spend the entire afternoon! The park is located at 241 S. FM 548. (between the intersection of FM 548/FM 1641 & FM 741, just off HWY. 80)
There will be fun for everyone! Bring your picnic lunch, some lawn chairs or blankets and your favorite lawn games, bubbles, balls, board games, ect. The facility has has a playground as well as volleyball and basketball courts, so if you have equipment, take it along! There's also a splash pad with fountains!
The kids can play while the parents have some time to relax and visit with other homeschooling families under the shade of the pavilion.
We will have free convention bags, literature, homeschool magazines and homeschool catalogs free to all visiting families, while supplies last. We will also be accepting new member and renewal memberships for the 2010-2011 Hearts and Hugs year.
This event is open to EVERYONE, not just Hearts and Hugs members. This is a great opportunity for those considering homeschooling to get some hand-outs and chat with homeschooling families, both new and veteran, in a very relaxed environment!

9th--PICNIC
Due to the busy holiday season, and many families either traveling and/or entertaining friends and family, we have elected not to have a scheduled social event this month. However, we may just have an impromtu social if time allows! So, if anyone is up to it and has time between all the family, friends and holiday preparations and celebrations, let us know!
