It's a good idea to consult this page near the beginning of each month to be sure you don't miss any events or important deadlines!
Please note that most (if not all) events listed here are open only to current Homeschoolers Hearts and Hugs members.
FIELD TRIPS
NOVEMBER 7th--VETERAN'S DAY CELEBRATION & DEDICATION, KAUFMAN, TX.
Why not gather up the whole family and head to Kaufman, TX. for a touching tribute to the Veterans?! This is sure be an event to remember.
One of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall replicas is scheduled to be on-hand and dedicated! This wall is one of four that are displayed around the nation. The wall is 370 foot long, 8 foot tall and is about four-fifths the size of the original wall located in Washington, D.C.
This trip is sure be a great opportunity for a history lesson or two! Wear your patriotic colors, and feel free to take along small flags to wave!
VOLUNTEER PROJECTS:
NOVEMBER 9th--WELCOME HOME THE SOLDIERS, DFW AIRPORT
This month, we'll WELCOME HOME the soldiers who are coming into (and passing through) the DFW airport! And, what better time to participate in a "meet 'n greet" than close to Veteran's Day?! Dress in your patriotic colors, make "Welcome Home" or "We Appreciate You" posters, and take along small flags to wave!! Families may wish to take along treats, snacks and/or water to be given to the soldiers. (for more information, please see the VOLUNTEER PROJECTS page)
SOCIAL EVENTS:
NOVEMBER 9th---LUNCH (after the Welcome Home the Soldiers volunteer project)

PLAYS:
NOVEMBER 19th--DALLAS CHILDREN'S THEATER: THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER!
Now's the time to start getting into the Christmas spirit! For more information on this performance, please contact Kim, the coordinator of this event.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION & DEADLINES
TIME FOR KIDS
If your family has subscribed to the Time for Kids--World Report (gr. 4-7) please be aware that TIME will take a two-week Thanksgiving break. The last issue for this month will be November 20. Issues will resume with the December 11 edition.
DISCOVERY
If you subscribed to the science supplement DISCOVERY you should have received your first issue in September. If you didn't receive it, please contact us ASAP so that we can address the problem. Issues are mailed out once per month.
BRAUM'S BOOK BUDDY:
The Braum's "Book Buddy" materials have been mailed out. Don't forget to have your children read toward their goals and earn those yummy treats!
SIX FLAGS SIX HOURS OF READING:
Information on this year's incentive program will go out soon. Watch your email for all the details on how your child can earn a FREE Six Flags ticket simply by reading!
T-SHIRTS:
Group T-shirts are ready! They will be available for pick-up at various upcoming Hearts and Hugs events. Please contact us to arrange pick up of your shirts!
