A Note from the President
Greetings,
We are constantly amazed at the many blessings being bestowed upon us. In the past two days, we've gotten information about a National Honor Society available for homeschoolers, educational programs at Bass Hall, activities for our youth fellowship, and many other opportunities you can find as you read this newsletter or website.
Everywhere we turn people are busy teaching classes, planning field trips, and organizing activities for our students.
With this in mind, if you haven't found your "niche" at HIS, we still have need of a coordinator for our Thanksgiving feast in November. The Moran's could use a couple more families to step up to help with some of the youth fellowships.
If you have a digital camera, be sure to take pictures at each event and turn it in to Beth and Michelle for the yearbook.
Your love and dedication to your family and the families of HIS is evident everywhere and God is blessing your efforts!
In HIS service with you,
Hal and Susie Thurow
Always check our Field Trips page for details on all H.I.S. activities! |

A Little About Our Group
H.I.S. (Home is School) Private Educators is a support group composed of families who are or will be homeschooling and desire to affiliate with others for the betterment of the homeschooling experience.
We meet the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm in the fellowship hall of Retta Baptist Church. The monthly meetings are designed to be informational, as well as inspirational. This is an excellent way to get to know more home-schoolers. We encourage the whole family to attend. Visitors are welcome to come meet our group, and we would be happy to answer any questions that you might have.
One benefit that H.I.S. offers is Thursday School. These classes are held from 1:00 - 4:00 pm in the Retta Baptist Church fellowship hall. Thursday School is meant to enhance your home schooling experience. In addition, we also offer field trips and youth fellowships on a monthly basis.
The H.I.S. Sentinel is our newsletter that is prepared and distributed monthly to the entire membership. This newsletter serves to keep us all informed of activities, events, and special interests as well as provide general words of encouragement.
H.I.S. offers plenty of activities and events for a well-rounded education. We have plenty of opportunities for everyone to participate. Annual events include the following:
- Back to School Bash
- Monthly Moms' Night Out
- See you at the Pole
- Fall Family Campout
- Thanksgiving dinner/play
- Spelling Bee
- Christmas Caroling
- Reading Incentive Programs
- Valentine's Day Party
- Civil War Ball
If you desire more information, come to our next monthly meeting or call one of the families that make up our Executive Board.
