Regardless of where you come from, what your level of enthusiasm is, there's room in the IWRA for you. If you are interested in water rocketry, we encourage you to contact the IWRA about becoming a member. The IWRA is a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of the safe sport of water rocketry in all forms. Our organization is an internet based association to allow the widest possible global membership. The association provides an education resource for the general public in understanding the sport of water rocketry and in the next few years will become the central depository of knowledge and oversight for competitive water rocketry achievements. The IWRA was formed on January 01, 2007 with the installation of the association’s first elected officers and the ratification of the association constitution. Also during 2007 the membership ratified an comprehensive water rocket safety code and developed the voting by internet process. Later that same year, discussions were started on procedures for the Competition Guidelines and the Peer-Review process that will provide for a level playing field for competing for records worldwide. Ratification of both the Competition Guidelines and Peer-Review process was completed during the 2008 election cycle. 06.23.2009 Peer-Review Board (PRB) Work continues on finalizing the questionnaire document package as part of the Water Rocket Achievement Recognition process The Peer Review Board of the IWRA is continuing its work to finalize the questionnaires that will be sent out to known water rocket contest sponsors and competing water rocket teams/rocketeers to provide the documentation for recognition of achievement. The questionnaires will follow the Water Rocket Achievement Recognition Guidelines that was ratified in late 2008. The guidelines are intended to level the playing field for all rocketeers interested in setting records. The peer-review process with its required documentation and witness provisions is seen as a great step forward to insure that all record attempts are fully documented and verifiable. All related documentation submitted to the IWRA/PRB will be posted for public review. The Peer-Review Board (PRB) is scheduled to complete its work on the questionnaire documentation and conduct its adoption vote scheduled for June 29th till July 05, 2009. If passed, the documentation will be sent on to the President’s Council for their final review with an adoption vote scheduled for July 20 thou 26th. 05.09.2009 President's Council (PC) Work continues on updating the master membership roster The President's Council of the IWRA is continuing its work to update the master membership roster. The association requires members to renew their membership annually. The renewal is officially past due 30 days after the members birthday. IWRA SAFETY CODE Safety is very important with any rocket. Water Rockets in particular are not toys. A pressurized water rocket can store huge amounts of energy and fly hundreds of miles per hour. They can suddenly burst, or injure bystanders if they don't stand at a safe distance from the rocket. Because of this, children should never be allowed to launch water rockets without constant adult supervision. Rockets can be safe but only when everyone understands and abides by safe behavior. Follow the link marked " Safety Code" (Upper Left) to view the official IWRA safety code adapted on March 2007. Revised: 03.17.2007. |
IWRA YAHOO FORUM The IWRA/Yahoo Forum is a private forum for internal discussions of the association and is being used for voting purposes using the polling feature of the forum. Members are asked to join the forum at the time of joining the IWRA so that they can be fully involved in the association. Along with the IWRA Forum this public site has all draft proposals, voting materials plus general information of the association to keep the general public and non-member rocketeers informed.
