Events: Dear Dulcimer Friends, I’ll be teaching mountain dulcimer at the Hill Country Acoustic Music Camp in Kerrville, TX, June 25th through June 29th. I’m writing to ask if you would please announce this event in your club newsletter or forward this letter to your member list. I’ve attached a copy of the brochure with all the details. This will be my second year to teach at HCAMP and I’m looking forward to another 5 days of fun and music. Class size is small, so students can benefit from individualized instruction. The camp includes instruction in various other instruments including hammered dulcimer, guitar, fiddle, banjo, mandolin, bass, dobro, harmonica, and voice. There are 8 scheduled class sessions for each instrument, totaling over 20 hours of instruction. While I prepare lessons to cover a wide range of topics—playing styles and techniques, music theory, chords, arranging, and repertoire—I’m also able to adapt the lessons for beginning as well as more advanced players. Once I meet with my class, we can determine the direction for the following lessons. If needed, I can break the class into smaller groups so that beginners can work on one thing while more advanced players can work on another. There will be time to practice what we learn each day and a student concert at the end of camp to show off our newfound skills and music. Daily jam sessions which are divided into slow, medium, and fast sessions include all instruments in a friendly atmosphere that make even the most inexperienced players feel as if they are contributing and learning something new. This is what makes HCAMP so special. For more information, go to www.hcamp.org or contact me. Hearing from students in advance helps me better prepare my lessons to meet everyone’s needs and interests. Thank you for your consideration. April is here. Hi! The "March Madness Jam" was great. We learned some new tunes, welcomed David and Betty Mills, and jammed our favorite songs. It was so much fun that we decided to NAME YOUR TUNE ....APRIL 26 Don and Gaye Goebel played "Riding on a Load of Hay" for Open Mike. Everyone wanted to learn the tune, so the Goebels scanned it for us. It is attached. |

And you thought the other was funny
We are about to enter the summer and BBQ season.
Therefore it is important to refresh your memory
on the etiquette of this sublime outdoor cooking
activity, as it's the only type of cooking a
'real' man will do, probably because there is an
element of danger involved.
When a man volunteers to do the BBQ the following
chain of events are put into motion:
Routine...
( 1) The woman buys the food.
(2) The woman makes the salad, prepares the
vegetables, and makes dessert.
(3) The woman prepares the meat for cooking, places
it on a tray along with the necessary cooking
utensils and sauces, and takes it to the man
who is lounging beside the grill - beer in
hand.
Here comes the important part:
(4) THE MAN PLACES THE MEAT ON THE GRILL.
More routine....
(5) The woman goes inside to organize the plates
and cutlery.
(6) The woman comes out to tell the man that the
meat is burning. He thanks her and asks if
she will bring another beer while he deals
with the situation.
Important again:
(7) THE MAN TAKES THE MEAT OFF THE GRILL AND HANDS
IT TO THE WOMAN.
More routine....
(8) The woman prepares the plates, salad, bread,
utensils, napkins, sauces, and brings them to
the table.
(9) After eating, the woman clears the table and
does the dishes.
And most important of all:
(10) Everyone PRAISES the MAN and THANKS HIM for
his cooking efforts.
(11) The man asks the woman how she enjoyed "her
night off." And, upon seeing her annoyed
reaction, concludes that there's just no
pleasing some women....

It's not only the Tiger's fur that is
