 * New member pics and action photos updated* The JVFD has recently purrchased a 1000 gal tanker/ pumper fire apparatus we should have it up and running soon This unit will help with structure fires and large grass fires. Currently the Department has updated its gear and equipment we have a new 2008 fire truck. We as well are working on grants for a larger tanker and more equipment. |

Fire prevention

October is fire prevention week here are a few reminders to be fire safe. Also we have a link to fire prevention on the front page.
Install smoke detector in the hallways and in the bedroomsand make sure they are properly working and change the batteries when you change your clocks. Remember to check them once a month.
Remeber to have two ways out and remember to stay low.
Have an exit plan and a meeting place and practice with your family.
When a grease fire happens slide a lid to cover itor use use backing soda.
Keep a fire extinguisher handy in the kittchen and garage.
Make sure your heaters have no combustable materials within 3 ft in all directions.
Treat matches and lighter like handguns if you have small children in your home.
watch out for electical over loading with cords and surge protectors.
Mantain your fire place and chimeny.
Watch were you store flamable liquids.
Be careful with candles and burning rubish and never leave unatended.
During fire season keep grash and brush trimed at least 100 feet from your house.
Always call 911 promply and let the dispatcher ask the questions and be calm as possible
Always remember if you catch your clothing on fire.....
