"Bridging the Gap"

Between

Home-School-Community

The King High School Parent Teacher Student Organization, also referred to as the "KHS PTSO" is a non-profit volunteer organization established for the purpose of advancing and supporting the education of students attending C.E. King High School. We are dedicated to building relationships, creating partnerships and enhancing the communication between parents, teachers, students and the community. Our members strive to promote Panther Pride by encouraging parental and community involvement in our school and to support King High School through volunteer service, financial assistance, faculty appreciation, students programs and scholarships.

Objectives

  • Promote the welfare of youth in home, school, community, and place of worship.

  • Create a positive atmosphere for communication among the home, school, and the community for the purpose of supporting and improving the education environment at C.E. King High School; promote continued involvement between students, families, school and the community; and to inform prospective students and families about the opportunities and challenges at KHS.

  • Encourage parents to form positive relationships and experiences with the administration, faculty, and staff of KHS.

  • Sponsor activities and events for the benefit of students and school through educational, financial and/or voluntary resources.

  • Develop among educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for our students the highest advantages in academics, physical, mental social, and spiritual education.

  • Provide incentives and recognition of students and school accomplishments.

Principles

We will:
  1. Strive to involve a broad range of parents in all that we do.

  2. Operate as a team recognizing that we are all volunteers with other professional and personal responsibilities.

  3. Be sensitive to avoid overloading anyone with more responsibility and assignments than they are comfortable with.

  4. In order to assist future PTSO leadership, we will make every attempt to involve parents of underclassmen in the planning and execution of all organization events.

  5. Maintain an atmosphere of openness in terms of the financial records of the organization. Financial statements will be generated on a timely basis of each month and available for review. Minutes of Board and General meetings will be available and will reflect approval of significant financial decisions in accordance with the Organization's bylaws.
