Evening Pilot Club of Baytown, Inc.,
is a non-profit organization of business people serving
the Baytown area. We were chartered on February 22,
1975, and currently have 28 members. Our club is part
of the larger Pilot International, founded in 1921 on the
principles of friendship and service. It is a global
organization of executive and professional leaders
working together to improve the quality of life in local
communities throughout the world. The money we raise
and our community service projects support the Baytown
area.

LIFELINE

Lifeline is an emergency response system which is sponsored by the Pilot Club of Baytown, Inc. and the Evening Pilot Club of Baytown, Inc. Clients can maintain their independence in the comfort of knowing that a caring individual is a press of a button away. Whenever you need help, one press of your lightweight, waterproof help button activates a small in-home unit called a communicator. It puts you in touch with a caring Lifeline Monitor who talks to you to find out what kind of help you need. Once determined the assistance needed, the Lifeline monitor contacts the desired agency.

There are currently 221 units that are supported by this system. The board of directors consists of 14 members, 7 volunteers from the Pilot Club of Baytown, Inc. and 7 volunteers from the Evening Pilot Club of Baytown, Inc. This wonderful service has been serving our community for 21 years.

Message from the President

Our year has started off with a bang. Our official visitor, Gov. Sherry Johnson was great and brought us a lot of good ideas and encouragement. To top it off and put the icing on the cake, she brought along with her our district secretary, Betty Stribley and Sherry's 2 delightful daughters, Chloyee and Neiman.

I am so glad to see the Area Leaders busy at work getting their projects started. If you new members need help, please ask someone.

Six members attended the workshop at Brenham. Hope more can go to the next trip. You don't know what you missed!

Sharon Phillips
  Community Service

Remington Park has asked us to donate new blankets and towels to Baytown Sheltering Arms. This is on our plans of work (donation to Sheltering Arms). Remington has a container in the lobby.

A $200 donation is being made to the Bay Area Senior Softball Association. The donation is to sponsor a team including t-shirts with the “Baytown Evening Pilot Club” printed on them.

BrainMinders™

Our main focus is stroke awareness, traumatic brain injuries and other brain-related disorders. We are proud to announce BrainMinders™ , Pilot International's public service campaign, focused on providing prevention education to the general public, children, caregivers and professionals in the community. The primary goal of this program is to dramatically decrease the number of brain injuries. Pilot Club members present this program to children between the ages of three and nine, who reside in our community. We demonstrate and reiterate the need to protect your brain.
Some of the places we have been to include: public schools, private schools, private day care centers and churches (Mother's Day Out Programs). If you are interested in having BrainMinders™ presented to your children, please contact us.

Pasty's Destiny Wheelchair Accessible Nature Trail and Playground

The Evening Pilot Club of Baytown is joining with Bay Area Rehabilitation Center and other entities to provide the community with “Patsy’s Destiny Wheelchair Accessible Nature Trail and Playground” a barrier-free park designed for inclusive recreation between children with and without special needs. “Patsy’s Destiny” will feature amenities designed to accommodate a variety of both children and adults who are challenged both mentally and/or physically. The park is open to anyone who wishes to utilize it, and offers visitors benches upon which to sit to enjoy the outdoors in a safe, beautiful and peaceful environment.
