Chapter Guidelines Full regalia (red hats/purple attire or pink hats/lavender attire for members younger than fifty) is required at all events. Children may not attend events. Minimum age for attendance/membership is twenty-one. Activities may include teas, lunches, dinners, train rides, visits to plays, places of interest, etc. – anything that would be fun and interesting. Chapter members will take turns planning events. The hostess for the month (Queen for the Day) will determine the location, date and time of that month’s event. There may be more than one event per month. News of events will be communicated to members via e-mail in most cases. Members who have e-mail will deliver information to e-mail-less members whom they see regularly. Members may supply Queen Cynthia with stamped, self-addressed envelopes to receive broadcasts if no other form of communication is available. We do not have chapter dues, but a Supporting Membership in the Red Hat Society ($20/year) is required. If funds are needed to pay chapter expenses, we will pass a red hat. The chapter is closed and is limited to a maximum of twenty-five members. Members who miss three meetings a year without contacting Queen Cynthia or the Queen for the Day will lose their places on the roster. This policy will be administered with discretion so that if members stay in touch, confirm a continuing interest in the Re-Gals, and have a good reason for missing an event, they will remain members in good standing. Guests at Re-Gals Events:
The Big D Re-Gals Chapter had its first meeting on May 14, 2002, and was registered on June 19, 2002. The name “Re-Gals” was chosen at our second meeting. The words “royal” and “regal” were favored as we discussed possible chapter names. Queen Cynthia’s friend Judy from Tennessee suggested “Re-Gals” (play on the word regal), and the name was overwhelmingly approved. We put “Big D” in front of it since no other Dallas chapters were using Dallas’ nickname, and we didn’t want “of Dallas” attached to our name in case someone else had already registered as Re-Gals.
