Fran Vido was born January 29, 1915, In Perth Amboy City, New Jersey, and passed away in Plano, Texas, on January 22, 2011. Fran's favorite activities while growing up were attending baseball games and going to dances with her girlfriends. She met her husband Adalbert (Bill) Vido at one of those dances. After their marriage, they made their home in Tottenville, Staten Island, New York, and were married fifty-eight years when Bill passed away.

When not working, she devoted much of her time in Tottenville participating in the Rosary and Altar Society at Our Lady Help of Christians Roman Catholic Church. Fran was an avid baseball fan of the New York Yankees and especially liked Derek Jeter.

Fran moved to Plano when she was ninety years old. She joined the Re-Gals in 2005 and chose the Red Hat name Francie Schmantzie. She enjoyed the camaraderie that participating in the Red Hat events created. She wore her Yankees baseball uniform to several Re-Gals Halloween lunches. She will be sorely missed by her
Re-Gals sisters.

Our sister Dot Luttrell suffered a stroke on Sunday, November 28, 2004, and passed away on Friday, December 3, 2004. She was a Re-Gal for nine months and only missed two events, despite the fact that she had to use a scooter to get around.

Dot held a Masters Degree from Southeast Missouri State University. She enjoyed photography, painting, reading and quilting.

A Lady is Passing By

We are all standing along her path
As this Lady takes her last journey,
Sisters all dressed in purple and red
As a Red Hat Sister passes by.

She will be passing my way soon.
I can feel her spirit in the morning breeze.
I am blessed that I came to know her
Before this Red Hat Sister passed by me.

The words of an old hymn comfort me.
"Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home."
In grace, a Red Hat Sister is passing by.

As she passes we tip our red hats in respect
And our hearts, crying, shed tears of love.
We stand in awe - she is one of our own.
Our Red Hat sister is passing by.
