RJE’s Family Math and Quiz Night!

Tuesday, Feb. 5. 2013 sponsored by Mathnasium. 6:30pm
Have a great time with your entire family at the FREE RJE Family Math Night!
There will be loads of fun math activities and games for students in each grade, including Junior Jaguars (our preschool siblings)!
There will be Estimation jars, The closest estimate wins the jar!
,like Family Feud, but with qustions applicable to the grade levels, including Junior Jaguars!
We hope to see you there!

*Please note this is NOT a drop off event, please accompany your student.

Healthy Lifestyles Event - Jan.10th @6:30pm

Join us for this great event to hear about healthy meal ideas to kick of your new year! There will be fun games for the kids, and door prizes donated by businesses around town. Dinner will be provided for everyone by My Fit Foods!

Red Ribbon Week 2012
RJE is celebrating Red Ribbon week! This is a national program that started in 1988 by the National Family Partnership organization, in honor of a Drug Enforcement Administration Agent who wanted to make a difference.

Here is an overview of our activities this year:

Decorating Contest
This year the students will do the decorating!

In your Monday (Tuesday!) folder next week you will find an 11 x 14 piece of paper. We are asking each student to create a poster showing what being drug free means to them. These posters will be displayed around the school throughout the week.

Posters can be sketched, drawn with crayons or markers, painted, collages, or graphically designed on the computer (must be students’ own design art) **All designs must fit on the enclosed paper**

Posters must be returned to school by Tuesday, October 16th

NO NAMES on the front of poster - please include the following information on the BACK: Students’ full name, grade, and teacher

Ribbons will be awarded to posters in each grade in the followng categories:

1- Best use of theme (The best ME is drug free!)
2- Most School Spirit
3- Most Fall Friendly (no Halloween themes will be accepted - fall theme only)
4- A prize will be awarded to the grand prize poster in each grade

Student Assembly
The RJE PTA is excited to bring back the High Flyers to kick off Red Ribbon Week, on Monday,October 22. All students will get to see these police officers with the Plano PD in an amazing trampoline program with a powerful drug-free message.

Here are the daily themes:

Monday, 10/22 - Wear Red in honor of Red Ribbon Week!

Tuesday, 10/23 – “Sock it” to drugs - Wear Crazy Socks

Wednesday, 10/24 – Give drugs the “slip” - Wear your slippers

Thursday, 10/25 – “Team Up” against drugs - Wear your Favorite Team Jersey

Friday, 10/26 – “Hairs” to being drug - Crazy Hair Day

In addition, students will sign a pledge to remain drug free, and the RJE PTA will provide fun giveaways each day!

November 2012
The annual spring carnival has been moved to the fall! Mark your calendar for the PTA fall festival

Pre-Sale for Carnival Wristbands will run Oct. 8th - Oct. 26th. Pre-sale prices are $6 - ages 3 & younger and $10 - ages 4 & up. Watch for flyers in your child's Monday folder to purchase your wristbands early!
After Oct.26th, wristbands will be available for $8 and $12.
