Teacher Apprication Week May 6th - May 10th

Our theme for the week is FIESTA!

We need volunteers to bring items for our Teacher Luncheon on Wednesday, May 8. Please sign up online on our Sign Up Genius list by copying and pasting this link into your web browser:

Each child has received either a sombrero or flower picture in their Monday folder. Please have your child color the picture and write a short note on it for their teacher. Bring it in on Tuesday, May 7!

***Don’t forget our specials and resource teachers & office staff too!***

  • Monday - Bring one flower for your teacher
  • Tuesday - Bring in the provided color sheet with a note written by your child on it
  • Wednesday - Teacher luncheon provided by the PTA - click the link above to Sign Up Genius if you can provide an item or help with decorating or serving the lunch!
  • Thursday - Bring a classroom supply item for your teacher (sharpies, post-it notes, tape, pens, stickers for younger classes, classroom library book, dry erase markers, etc.) See your teacher’s favorites sheet on the RJE PTA website for their classroom wish list!!
  • Friday - Bring your teacher a yummy treat from their favorites list (on the PTA website: www.rjepta.org) - either a snack, cookie, drink, or other item!

Texas Trash Off
Join the RJE PTA in kicking off our Green Week initiatives by cleaning up our neighborhood!

Sign up on our team in the annual McKinney Texas Trash Off this Saturday morning 4/13! It's easy - just email kara.lane@sbcglobal.net with your name and T-shirt size (all participants).

Everyone who registers by the deadline gets a free shirt, and lunch is provided after the event! Meet at the pavillion behind RJE (by the yellow playground at 9:15am Saturday to begin clean up. We'll finish up about 10:30 or so, and lunch & awards are at 11:30 at Old Settler's Park (1201 E. Louisiana).

All participants must fill out a waiver for the city - Kara will email it to you when you sign up!


Boosterthon Fun Run
We had so much fun at this year's fundraising event! The weather was amazing, and really enjoyed the Boosterthon Fun Run! Our students had a great time learning about making great choices for good character.

All pledge money is now due. You can pay for your pledges here on our online payment page, or by check made out to RJE PTA.





Boxtops Contest!
Keep collecting those box tops! For the April/May contest, two lucky students will win a pair of ice skating passes. Contest begins April 8!


PTA News:
The Toy Drive to benefit the Brett's Blessings Charity went very well! RJE students collected nearly 700 toys! We would like to say THANK YOU for your generosity RJE!

Restaurant Spirit Nights - We have two more spirit nights coming up! We invite you to join us at Chick-fil-A on April 29, and at Rosa's Cafe in May.

It's not too late to Join PTA!
The RJE PTA is excited about the new school year and is looking forward to having you join us with our 2012-2013 membership drive. Our goal is to have at least one person from each family join the PTA.

Why Join?
1. to SUPPORT the numerous programs, events, and opportunities that the PTA and funds that are not available through regular MISD school budget, such as:
  • Family Events: Fall Festival, Movie Night, Math Night, Variety Show, Go-Green initiatives, classroom parties.
  • Programs: Assemblies, Reflections, Parent Education Night, Red Ribbon Week, Author Visits, Volunteer Training
  • Communications:Meetings, Bulletin Board, Marquee, Email Updates, Facebook
  • Fundraisers: Boosterathon (formally Walk-a-thon), Carnival, Restaurant Spirit Nights, Box Tops for Education

2. To RECIEVE a FREE membership directory. Directories are only available to our PTA members and are invaluable for planning play dates, homework help, and more.


WHERE DOES MY MONEY GO?
Membership dues are $7.50 per member or $12.00 for a family membership (2 adults) in the same household. Of that amount, $4.50 goes towards Texas and National PTA to help support initiatives on a larger scale, such as the recent Go-Green bus plans. The rest of your membership dollars stay right here at RJE! Your membership creates a larger voice and vote for everyone in our RJE family.

DO I HAVE TO VOLUNTEER?
No, Joining PTA does not obligate you to volunteer at school or attend PTA meetings, although we hope you will. If you would like to serve as a Classroom Parent, we do require that you be a PTA member as that role is vital in many PTA programs and events.

Thank You for joining RJE PTA. You support participation and involvement are the foundation to success for PTA!
