The objective of SBAVC is:


To afford a convenient and beneficial association of persons interested in the culture and propagation of the African violet, botanically known as the Saintpaulia, and related Gesneriads.



We meet the second Saturday of each month at 10:30 am (except December) at the Copperfield Baptist Church, 8350 Highway 6 North, Houston, TX 77095

Upcoming Events

 

Our annual Fall Plant Sale Saturday, October 3, and Sunday, October 4, 2009, at the Hermann Park Garden Center, 1500 Hermann Drive, Houston, TX.

Violets of all types such as standards, miniatures, semi-miniatures, and trailers will be available. Other gesneriads such as episcias and streps and supplies such as potting soil, pots, and fertilizers will also be featured.

A demonstration on “Propagating African violets” will be held on Sunday at 11:30am presented by Elaine Click, an AVSA Master Judge.

A demonstration on ”Potting Up African violets” will be presented on Sunday at 2:30pm by Mary McFarland, an AVSA Master Judge. Club members will be available to answer general questions on growing African violets.

Plant sale hours are:
Saturday October 3, 2009 - 10am-4pm
Sunday October 4, 2009 - 10am-3pm

Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.


We will hold our annual Spring Show "Violets Love Bluebell" and Sale March 6 & 7, 2010

Saturday, March 6, 2010
9:00am to 1:00pm - Judging of the show
1:00pm to 5:00pm - Show open to the public
9:00 am to 5:00pm - Plant sale

Sunday, March 7, 2010
10:00 am to 4:00pm - Show and sale open to the public
