We're the Shufflin' Shoes!
The Shufflin' Shoes Exhibition Team, under the direction of Dee Dick, performs regularly throughout the Dallas Metroplex at such venues as the Plano Balloon Festival, Old City Park in Dallas and Main Street Garland. We've danced in sunshine and rain, hot (102°) and cold (25°); in libraries and malls, barns and beautiful auditoriums, honky-tonks and warehouses; with ballet dancers and barbershoppers, hot air balloons and long-winded journalists, to Rodeo and Rap, classical and country—and even to the Macarena!
Recital 2007 ~ Country Rock Star
Dee Dick has been clogging since 1985 and teaching since 1989. She and her students formed the Shufflin' Shoes in June of 1990. (See Team History page.) Most of the material performed by the Shoes is original. Dee has been choreographing almost since the beginning of her clogging career. A regular contributor to local and area workshops, Dee has taught for many years at the Texas Cloggers Rally, the I-35 Clogging Special, the Double Toe Jam Workshop, and the Camp Esperanza Benefit Workshop, as well as serving on the committee at the National Clogging Convention.
We offer classes at Whistle Stop Dance Company, 4750 North Jupiter Road at Arapaho, Suite 205 - upstairs, facing Arapaho.
SUMMER CLASSES begin on Thursday, June 12. Beginner classes start at 7:00 p.m., followed by Intermediate classes at 8:00 p.m. Beginner classes will start with the most basic movements of clogging so this is the best time to begin if you want to learn to clog.
During the school year, Beginner lessons are taught at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday nights for anyone eight years old through adult who wants to learn about this really cool, fun, All-American step dance!
We’ll show you some clogging and have YOU clogging before the hour is over! If you like it, we’ll tell you how to continue—if not, we’ll enjoy meeting you anyway.
No special clothing or shoes are required. If you have tap shoes with flat heels, they'll do fine, but clogging taps can be ordered if you want them. It's best to wear cool, comfortable clothes, such as t-shirts and shorts. The first lesson is always FREE.
Intermediate lessons start at 8:30 p.m., immediately following the Beginner class. Experienced cloggers are welcome to attend both classes. Advanced dancers meet on Sundays at 2:00 p.m.
