Rev. John is 3rd Generation minister in his family. Grandfather was Pastor, Father served as Interm Pastor for over 20 years. His, father birthed forth out of 13 children , 11 boys & 2 girls , 10 ministers ,and one of those is a girl. Rev. John’s denominational background is that of Church Of God In Christ. His spiritual and natural father of 34 years called him forth on the date of his birth. When his father was 58 years old, it was prophesied to him ,that he would seed one more son to follow after God. When John Blackwell was born to this man ,of 59 years old that prophetic word was sealed, and has continue to manifest itself.

Rev. John accepted Christ as his Savior at the age of twelve years old, but he did want to submit to the calling on his life for ministry it would take another 15 year before he would finally say yes to the will of God to preach and teach this gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. At the age twenty-seven ,while he was on the battlefield in Desert Storm ,he asked the Lord for another son and god required of him to join His army. When John returned back to America God gave him a son and he gave God he committed his heart to being the man of God.

Rev. John felt a commitment to carry out promise he had made to a Pastor friend of his, that if God planted him in Pine Bluff, he would help him establish the work God had called his friend to. Rev. John and his wife Dr. Blackwell always supported each other and he did not want his promise to interfere with what God had called her to do so for a season; Rev. John was the Pastor of Administration at Fresh Oil Ministries and Dr. Blackwell served on the ministerial staff at Holy Deliverance Church. After fulfilling his promise, he joined his wife as a part of the ministerial staff at Holy Deliverance.

Rev. John has been in ministry over 17 years, married to his first and only wife over 21 years. Though he loves ministry his greatest and most coveted ministry is that of a husband, protector, provider, priest to his wife and sons James and Joshua Blackwell.
