Welcome to the Seven Lakes High School Academic Decathlon website. Seven Lakes High School opened its doors in 2005 - 06 school year and is the newest and 6th high school in the Katy Independent School District - located in Katy, Texas (we are a suburb just west of Houston). We look forward to another exciting school year and successful AD season.

If you are interested in trying out for next years Spartan Decathlon team, there will be a informational meeting in the LGI - Monday, May 17, from 7 - 9pm. If you are interested in finding out more about this highly successful program, we would love to talk to you about next year. Spartan Decathlon - Super Quiz Relay National Champs!

The Spartan Decathlon team finished their season in Omaha, Nebraska competing at the USAD National Finals. The team won the Super Quiz Relay, claiming the National Championship! Overall the team finished 4th in Division 1 and finished 4th for Super Quiz Team. Individually Steven Wan finished as the top Honors student in the Nation, with Jonathan Xu finishing as the third highest Honors student. Raul Calzada finished as the second highest Scholastic student in the nation. Congrats to these individuals and congrats to the entire team for a great season!

Spartan Decathlon - Heads to Nationals in Omaha!

The Spartan Decathlon team heads up to Omaha, Nebraska to compete in the National Academic Decathlon Meet, Apr 21 - 24. The Spartans will be representing the State of Texas against 40 other schools representing their respective states. The Spartans head into the meet ranked #4 in the Nation, with high hopes of improving on that ranking at the meet. The Spartans have worked hard and are looking forward to the competition. Good luck AcaDec! Also, good luck to the Octathlon team as they compete at the Regional Meet on April 24 - bring back another Regional Championship!

Spartan Decathlon - State Champs!

Congratulations to the Seven Lakes AcaDec team as they successfully captured their first 5A State Title. The win was the highest score in the state, qualifying them to represent the State of Texas at the USAD National Meet in Omaha, Nebraska at the end of April. In the Super Quiz Relay the team scored a near perfect score, getting 44 out of 45 questions correct, what could be a new state record and earning them the Relay Gold Medal. The Spartans finished in 2nd place in the other team medal event, the Super Quiz Team. The team from James E. Taylor took the Gold Medal in that event, with the Spartans finishing in 2nd with the Silver Medal.

Individually, the Spartans Honors team repeated their dominating performance from Regionals, finishing 1, 2, and 3 overall! Jonathan Xu was 1st, Steven Wan was 2nd, and Sirus Jesudasen was 3rd. In the Scholastic division Matt Bernhard captures the top 5 spot, with Raul Calzada and Mike Bourgeois finishing in the top 10. In the Varsity division Kyle Mock finished in 4th place overall, with Vincent Lam and Mark Caldwell having strong finishes, just missing the top 10 each.

Spartan Decathlon - Regional Champs!

Congratulations to the Seven Lakes AcaDec team as they successfully captured their first 5A Regional Title. The team also captured team gold medals in Super Quiz Team and Super Quiz Relay (with a near perfect score, 42 out of 45 questions). The team heads into the state meet ranked #2 in the state and #10 in the nation. Good luck Spartan Decathlon as they gun for their second State Title and a shot at Nationals!

Individually, the Spartans dominated the rest of the teams. In the honors division: Jonathan Xu finished 2nd Overall, Sirus Jesudasen finished 3rd Overall, and Steven Wan finished 4th Overall. In the scholastic division: Raul Calzada finished 1st Overall, Mike Bourgeois finished 2nd Overall, and Matt Bernhard finished 3rd Overall. In the varsity division: Vincent Lam finished 1st Overall, Kyle Mock finished 4th Overall, and Mark Caldwell finished 7th Overall. The team captured over 40 individual medals, almost doubling the next closest opponent! Great job decathletes.
