Prepare. Defend. Assist.
The Texas Civil Defense is a volunteer organization comprised of former military personnel and civilians willing to serve their individual communities. Our members include teachers, police officers, truck drivers, self-employed individuals, medical personnel, retirees, and individuals employed in various aspects of the business world. Because we are a volunteer organization, we spend much of our own money to provide supplemental information for our training programs and to advertise our services.
Members volunteer their own time to provide this training, often taking vacation time from work or taking time out from their own businesses to teach. We are dedicated to serve our communities and are always looking for other dedicated volunteers, particularly in the medical field so that we can expand our training portfolio. We currently have a Dallas area group that meets monthly in Red Oak as well as a group in Paris and another in the Houston area.
To provide schools and local communities with training in the fields of Disaster Preparedness, proper Gun Safety, Rape Crisis, First Aid, CPR and other training as needed for Individual and Collective personal needs within a given community
To maintain a properly trained and equipped unit, available for prompt mobilization in the even of a community, state, or national emergency or as directed by the State Headquarters of the Texas Civil Defense to conduct exercises and training with Municipal Agencies in Emergency Management in the case of a natural or man-made disaster
To provide information in Emergency Disaster Preparedness to organized civilian and military groups including: Military Veteran Groups, Civilian Retirement Centers, Schools, Professional Groups, Churches, and other Religious Organizations and such other groups available
Classroom and Hands On Training
Membership is open to all US Citizens over the age of 17 who have clean criminal records and who want to serve their communities by teaching and responding to emergencies.
OATH OF APPLICATION I, _____________________________________ DO SOLEMNLY SWEAR THAT I HAVE READ THE QUALIFICATIONS AND MISSION STATEMENT COMPLETELY, THAT I HAVE MET THE QUALIFICATIONS, THAT I FULLY SUPPORT THE MISSIONS AND PURPOSE OF TEXAS CIVIL DEFENSE, THAT I WILL CONDUCT MYSELF APPROPRIATELY AND WILL BE SINCERE IN MY EFFORTS TO HELP MAKE MY COMMUNITY SAFER AND BETTER ABLE TO DEAL WITH DISASTER AND THREATS OF DOMESTIC TERRORISM. AS A MEMBER OF THE TEXAS CIVIL DEFENSE, I FULLY UNDERSTAND THAT I WILL NOT CARRY A WEAPON OF ANY TYPE WHILE ENGAGED IN ANY UNIT ACTIVITY OR WHILE REPRESENTING THE TEXAS CIVIL DEFENSE UNLESS AUTHORIZED BY PROPER CIVIL OR MILITARY AUTHORITY AND THAT VIOLATION OR NON-COMPLIANCE WITH THIS POLICY WILL RESULT IN PERMANENT DISMISSAL FROM THE ORGANIZATION. Regular Meetings are held on the second Saturday of each month beginning at 9:30am at the corner of Red Oak Rd. and Methodist (temporary school building).
Paris Division, 2nd Division Headquarters

The 2nd Division-Paris meets on the 2nd Saturday of each month. One month in Paris at the Lamar County Chamber of Commerce Building, 1145 Bonham Street and an alternate month at the Macedonia Baptist Church Building, Mesquite, Texas.
