5.JPG.jpgA LITTLE BIT ABOUT US...

The Cornerstone Church is a non-denominational church that is spirit-filled and believes the whole Bible is the infallible Word of God. To know Jesus, and to serve Him is our priority. Our vision is to be a repairer of the breach, and to be a gathering place for people who need salvation, healing and restoration. Our mission is to reach as many souls as possible in these last days, and show them the way to eternal life. Everyone is welcome to worship with us.

Meet the Pastor and his wife...

Ken Smith has been pastoring for 15 years at The Cornerstone Church. His favorite scripture is Psalm 23. He has been married to Jeannie Smith for 30 years, and together they have one son, Matthew, aged 26. Ken has two other sons, Robert and Kelly, from another marriage and Jeannie has one daughter, Laura, also from a previous marriage. Together they have four grandchildren. They love the Lord and desire to do His will in all things. Please pray for them, and the church, as they serve the Lord together.

GREETINGS CORNERSTONE FRIENDS!

The Alaska Update! At North Pole we recently had Evangelist Stephen Powell with us teaching on 'How to Receive Your Healing'. His burden is for the native villages of Alaska. Several of those attending his services testified to receiving healing in their bodies, and a couple received the baptism of the Holy Ghost.

He also ministered at Golden Heart Church and every deaf person was healed! It seems as if his calling is in the gift of healing.

Our new Bible Institute will open in September 2014! We need help in advertising our mission school. If brochures are needed, let us know.' Fourteen classes will be offered to the students.

Some of the classes offered are 'Hearing God's Voice/Finding God's Purpose; Spiritual Gifts; Principles of Biblical Leadership; Prayer and Intercession; Survey of the Old Testament and Survey of the New Testament.

A limited amount of housing is available and is offered on a first come, first serve basis. Limited scholarships are available. Only students with special needs will be considered for these. Once accepted as a student, one may apply for a special needs scholarship.

We are again enlarging our tents, and are in the process of purchasing some additional property for the school. We appreciate any help in that area, a pledge or one time gift would be so appreciated.

We thank you for your obedience to the Lord's calling to help us take the Good News of Christ to the cities and villages of Alaska. May God continue to pour out His blessings upon you for your acts of obedience.

Joyce and I thank you for your prayers as well. "This is good and pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth."~~1 Timothy 2:3-4

You have our love and prayers,

Your missionaries in the Arctic, Dale and Joyce Thurlby Missionaries for The Cornerstone Church.

Sunday's Sermon Notes

'Have Faith, He's Coming Soon' Taken from Acts 1; Rev 1:1; and Heb 11.

We can't talk about the Lord without talking about the death, burial and the resurrection...but there's more...the return of the King!

People should be excited...He's coming back! And that's a fact!

I thought of something funny the other day, I thought if he came back today, people would be snapping pictures and putting it on Facebook. But they had Facebook way back in Jesus' day...they were looking at Him face to face, and He's in the book! Praise God!

Revelations tells us He's coming back. What does 'revelation' mean? It means the invisible made visible. Now we are walking and serving him by the Book, but when He comes back, we'll see Him face to face! Talk about Facebook!

In Hebrew 11 it talks about faith. Unless we have it, we cannot be born again...we cannot please God. Faith is a substance. We can't see it but we can feel it..like we can't see the wind, but we can feel the effects of it.

God came to Abram when he was a pagan, and told him to get up, get his wife and family, and gather up his stuff, and go to a place He would tell him to go.

Abram heard God and did what he was told. Could we do that? Abram didn't know God, but he went by faith. His GPS (God's Positioning Service) kicked in and God led them to the place.

There was a time when I heard the call, I had a good job, and five kids, and God said 'Go'...I did, and God took care of the rest.

God said 'Preach' and I preached, and all hell broke loose..and it didn't come from the world...it came from the religious crowd.

The Spirit of God will teach you things, and I was preaching what He was teaching, and I received a lot of grief from so called Christians.

I preached the Word, and they didn't like it..but if you love the Lord, you'll love His Word!

Seriously, folks, the Lord is coming soon...and faith will end there, because we will see Him face to face...we'll be in His presence...but right now we need faith!

We should be telling what the Lord has done for us while we still can. We should be attending church regularly! Jesus loves the church, and we should be in it when we can. Anyone who doesn't love the church, doesn't love the Lord, and will be left behind.

Some churches probably wouldn't change from the pulpit to the pew when He returns for the saints. That's sad but true.

Someday the Father is going to whisper to Jesus, 'Son, go get my children', and then everything will change in the twinkling of an eye. I beg you, 'Don't be left behind.'

SUNDAY SERVICE

Adult Sunday school was taught by Charlene Rowan from Psalm 34:18-19. Pastor Ken opened the class with prayer.

Services began with singing 'I'll Have a New Life' and 'I Feel Like Traveling On'. Brother Jessie took prayer requests and opened in prayer.

He gave the announcements and welcomed everyone. For special music Brittany Hawkins sang 'O The Blood'; and special guests Brother and Sister Gale and Jeanie Moericke sang 'Speak to the Mountain'and 'O What A Savior'.

Tithes and offerings were received by Brother Junior Foley. 'Doxology' was the offertory hymn. Brother Jessie offered the offertory prayer.

Vanessa Rowan worked the overhead. Brittany Hawkins worked the sound room.

Brother Gale Moericke brought the morning message on 'Have Faith, He's Coming Soon'.

He gave the invitation and closed in prayer.

~~~~~~~~
The church is planning to start a Sunday evening service in June at 5:30pm. It will be a casual time of coming together and they will meet in the fellowship hall. It will be called 'The Huddle', much like going into the huddle and calling the next play. The focus would be on a specific scripture each week to encourage and build each other up to begin the week and deal with all the struggles against the enemy, and seize the opportunities to witness for Christ.
