5.JPG.jpgA LITTLE BIT ABOUT US...

The Cornerstone Church is a non-denominational church that is spirit-filled and believes the whole Bible is the infallible Word of God. To know Jesus, and to serve Him is our priority. Our vision is to be a repairer of the breach, and to be a gathering place for people who need salvation, healing and restoration. Our mission is to reach as many souls as possible in these last days, and show them the way to eternal life. Everyone is welcome to worship with us.

Meet the Pastor and his wife...

Ken Smith has been pastoring for 15 years at The Cornerstone Church. His favorite scripture is Psalm 23. He has been married to Jeannie Smith for 30 years, and together they have one son, Matthew, aged 26. Ken has two other sons, Robert and Kelly, from another marriage and Jeannie has one daughter, Laura, also from a previous marriage. Together they have four grandchildren. They love the Lord and desire to do His will in all things. Please pray for them, and the church, as they serve the Lord together.

GREETINGS CORNERSTONE FRIENDS!

The Alaska Update! At North Pole we recently had Evangelist Stephen Powell with us teaching on 'How to Receive Your Healing'. His burden is for the native villages of Alaska. Several of those attending his services testified to receiving healing in their bodies, and a couple received the baptism of the Holy Ghost.

He also ministered at Golden Heart Church and every deaf person was healed! It seems as if his calling is in the gift of healing.

Our new Bible Institute will open in September 2014! We need help in advertising our mission school. If brochures are needed, let us know.' Fourteen classes will be offered to the students.

Some of the classes offered are 'Hearing God's Voice/Finding God's Purpose; Spiritual Gifts; Principles of Biblical Leadership; Prayer and Intercession; Survey of the Old Testament and Survey of the New Testament.

A limited amount of housing is available and is offered on a first come, first serve basis. Limited scholarships are available. Only students with special needs will be considered for these. Once accepted as a student, one may apply for a special needs scholarship.

We are again enlarging our tents, and are in the process of purchasing some additional property for the school. We appreciate any help in that area, a pledge or one time gift would be so appreciated.

We thank you for your obedience to the Lord's calling to help us take the Good News of Christ to the cities and villages of Alaska. May God continue to pour out His blessings upon you for your acts of obedience.

Joyce and I thank you for your prayers as well. "This is good and pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth."~~1 Timothy 2:3-4

You have our love and prayers,

Your missionaries in the Arctic, Dale and Joyce Thurlby Missionaries for The Cornerstone Church.

Sunday's Sermon Notes

'Quit Riding the Fence' Taken from 1 Kings 18:21.

'How long will you falter between two opinions?' was the question Elijah the prophet asked the children of Israel. In other words, 'Quit riding the fence, and make up your mind.'

I believe the Holy Spirit is asking that question today of many who refuse to really commit to Him. Luke warm is not really one of God's favorite conditions of man.

Yes, there are many who will say, 'I go to church on Sunday', 'I praise the Lord', and then all the next week, they can be found serving the devil, just like the world.

They just can't make up their minds, who they're going to serve, so they just ride the fence, trying to decide, day after day, week after week, year after year.

People still still tell themselves, 'Oh, God understands, He knows me, He knows my heart.' Church, don't believe that makes it right, cause if you do, you're in for a rude awakening.

It is not okay to compromise with the world, it is not okay to tolerate sin. It's not okay to practice sin, while you continue to refuse to decide.

Elijah gave the people a choice, to serve God, or to serve Baal. Just like so many today...they said not a word. They didn't answer him at all, because they refused to decide.

The church needs to take the opinion of Joshua, 'As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord!' And he didn't care who heard him.

A fence rider is under conviction, but never convinced. When Paul witnessed to King Agrippa, the king told him, 'Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian'.

Those on the fence will not take the time to decide for God. They always put it off till later. When Paul witnessed to Felix, he told Paul, 'Go your way, until a more convenient time'.

Fence riders are spectators. They never really become a part of the church. They're the last ones in and the first ones out. They're probably thinking, 'I'll go Lord, but don't let any of them ask me to do something.' I'm fine just the way I am.'

If Jesus comes, and you're still on that fence, and you're still practicing sin, you will be left behind. The devil is trying hard to keep you on that fence...don't let him win.

SUNDAY SERVICE

Adult Sunday school was taught by Charlene Rowan from Psalm 34. Pastor Ken opened the class with prayer.

Services began with singing 'Hosanna/Arise and Sing/I Will Rejoice'. Brother Jessie opened in prayer.

Brother Jessie gave the announcements and welcomed everyone. For special music Brittany Hawkins sang 'O the Blood' and Jeannie Smith sang 'The Blood is Still There'. Clint and Lindsey were celebrating one year of being together.

Tithes and offerings were received by Vanessa Foley. 'The Doxology' was the offertory hymn. Brother Jessie offered the offertory prayer.

Praise songs included 'Great and Mighty' and 'Here we Are'.

Vanessa Rowan worked the overhead. Brittany Hawkins worked the sound room and tended the nursery.

Pastor Ken Smith preached on 'Quit Riding the Fence' from 1 Kings 18:21.

He gave the invitation and Pastor Ken closed in prayer.
 PASTOR LARRY STEPHENSON'S NOTES

'Sharing on the Revelation of God'
