The school year is off and running and we are so excited about all our new teachers, staff, families and students.

We are keeping the CAMO theme again this year. You will see a lot of stencil fonts and play on the military way of life that so many of us are a part of.

John Tower PTO Executive Board is a small group of parents. As a Board we are responsible for many of the events and activities that go on at the school. We would like to have other parent volunteers to chair our various committees and many more to work on those committees to ensure their success.

Previous year’s PTO has always worked hard to maintain the success of the activities held and funded by the group. These are some of the events that the PTO held or funded for our school:

PTO School Events: Fall Carnival, Holiday Shop, Muffins with Mom, Donuts with Dad, Family Reading Night, Family Movie Night, 5th Grade Finale, Principal Paw Pride, Spirit Parties, Box Tops Celebrations, Staff Appreciation Week events and gifts, Pre-K Literacy Night, just to name a few.

These are just some of the items the PTO purchased/financed: Lamination film, colored butcher block paper, office and hospitality supplies, Science Fair awards and trophies, PTO insurance, prizes for the Spirit Friday winning classes, hospitality for science fair judges, Red Ribbon Week and birthday pencils. Our biggest purchase for half the cost (BISD funded the other half) of the half court basketball court. This will be the foundation for our pavilion which we are saving for until we have enough to purchase it-Operation: Shade our Students.

Fundraising events: We hold only two take home (door-to-door) sales events one in the fall (2010 Cookie Doough) and one in the spring (2011 Candles). Other fundraising events will include: Popcorn Fridays, Valentine Grams, Incentives, Holiday Store, Friendship Festival, T-shirts and spirit items.

We also collect Box Tops, Nestle Pure Life (water bottle) Labels, Campbell Soup Labels and Tyson Project A+ Labels. Last year we rocked! We collected and turned in over $3,000.00 in Box Tops. From Nestle and Campbell’s we turned in at least a thousand labels total. From those labels we ordered 30 playground balls from Campbell Soup labels. Collecting these incentive products really does pay off.

Tower PTO remains very busy! Tower information, like pictures from our school events and honor rolls are placed in the Burkburnett Informer Star each week (or as often as possible). You can get your copy of this weekly newspaper mailed to your home each Thursday by calling 569-2191.

Once a month we hold a small briefing before the school’s music program. This gives us an opportunity to let you know what we are up to. PTO Executive Board Members are available to talk with you after the program.
