Clubhouse Happenings Bob McCuistion Receives Honors as ARRL Member for 60 YearsWhat did you do in 1944? If you were Bob McCuistion (W5HY) of Lubbock, you joined the ARRL that year. ARRL's West Gulf Director Coy Day (N5OK), and West Texas Section Manager, John Dyer (AE5B) presented Bob with a plaque to commemorate his 60 years of membership in the ARRL. The Lubbock Amateur Contest Club hosted the event at the Stidham Memorial Clubhouse and served a special dinner in Bob McCuistion's honor. The namesake of Holly's 1957 "rockabilly" hit "Peggy Sue" -- who went to high school with Holly and later married the drummer in his band, The Crickets -- says participating in the W5B event sharpened her desire to get her ham license.
