Waco Calligraphy Guild

Welcome to the Waco Calligraphy Guild The Waco Calligraphy Guild is a diverse group of people with various skills in calligraphy. We meet together the second Saturday of each month from 10:15 until 12:15 except in Dec. at the Waco Art Center, 1300 College Drive on the MCC campus. You are welcome to join us whether you are a novice or advanced calligrapher or just want to learn how. We have programs on sorts of the book arts . Come join us for artistic expression all your own!

Next Meeting SATURDAY, May 12th at 10:15 am until 12:15 at the Waco Art Center 1300 College Drive on the MCC campus. Envelope Decorating Supplies needed: old envelopes, scrap paper, solid colored lightweight paper 10 1/2" square. Optional supplies: broad nibbed felt pens, ruler, bits of scrap paper 3"x3" or larger, different sizes of punches, decorative edging scissors, glue stick, sheet or two of lightweight paper about double the size of your envelope, stamps, ink, markers, water colors, and straight edged scissors. It will be a great learning event, and you may want to bring your camera to record the ideas you want to remember.

Upcoming Events:

Come by our booth at the Waco Arts Fest the weekend of Sept. 22-23. Come and make your own weathergram to hang in your garden! We will also have our annual exhibit of calligraphy framed art, greeting cards and other items for sell from many talented calligraphers in our guild.

Learn calligraphy
May 12th we will have a clinic on the Blackletter alphabet taught by Jane Stanfield. Registration is required. Price is $5.00 for members and $10.00 for non members. Supply list available. Contact Jane for details: 254-640-2448

Our guild has programs for everyone. Just a few of our programs : creative boxes, accordian books, handmade paper, calligrams, different styles of calligraphy, watercolor backgrounds, greeting cards, bookmarks and special gifts . We also letter all the lovely paper doves for the Hillcrest Hospice Christmas Trees at the Richland Mall in December. We also hold special mini afternoon workshops on topics that are always fun and interesting, suitable for beginners to advance levels of skills. Beginners are always encouraged and welcome at all of our meetings.
