CURRICULUM OVERVIEW

A Child's Place Preschool
Activities and Curriculum Plans

Every day is special when a child shares it with you.

All curriculum plans are based on developmentally appropriate practices as set forth by the National Association for the Education of Young Children of which our school is a member. Teachers also utilize Virginia's Foundation Blocks for Early Learning: Comprehensive Standards for Four-Year-Olds in developing curriculum and planning classroom activities. Download the Virginia Foundation Blocks document here.

Early education benefits young children through experiences that....

  • increase their intelligence and problem-solving abilities.

  • strengthen their emotional control.

  • increase their gains in physical health.

  • develop self-discipline and control

  • foster self-confidence, self-understanding, and self-esteem.

  • promote social skills, developing their ability to relate with other children and adults.

  • provide self-expression in art, music, literature, and dance.

Children learn through practical experience and through interaction with their social and physical environment.  Your child will have many rich and varied activities to stimulate his/her growth and development while attending preschool.  We will provide many daily fun experiences for each child through the following activities:  music, games, stories, fingerplays, listening activities, speaking activities, home center, dramatic play, large and small muscle play, free play, art, crafts, cooking, block play and snack time.
