School Policies

School starts in September after Labor Day and ends the last week in May. Parents are provided with a detailed calendar of events and holidays at the parent orientation meeting each year. We follow the Loudoun County Public School calendar with respect to most student holidays. The exception is teacher workdays.

Parent orientation meetings are held before school begins and will provide parents with basic information concerning preschool policies and procedures. Handouts are available at that time.

2-day sessions are held on Monday and Tuesday. 3-day sessions are Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. 5-day sessions are Monday through Friday. All classes meet from 9:00a.m. until 12 noon.

Each teacher sets her own schedule as is appropriate for her and the children but the following would be a sample schedule.

9:00 - 9:15	Greet the children; plan for the day
9:15 - 10:00	Activity period; work and play in centers
10:00 - 10:15	Clean up time
10:15 - 10:30	Snack time
10:30 - 11:15	Outdoor play
11:15 - 11:30	Quiet, relaxing activity (resting, reading, listening to music, etc.)
11:30 - 11:45	Group sharing time: songs, fingerplays, discussions, stories
11:45 - 12:00	Review of the day and dismissal

This is an optional program held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12 noon until 1:00pm. Parents may sign up for this program on a monthly basis and the fees will be posted at this time. Children bring their lunches to school, enjoy eating with their friends and teachers, and afterwards play on the playground or in the rainy-day room in inclement weather.

Monthly Tuition

Tuition fees constitute a yearly financial commitment not a month-by-month re-enrollment fee. Tuition may be paid by the year, the semester, or on a monthly payment plan. If you choose the monthly payment play, tuition is divided into nine (9) equal installments for your convenience.

A late fee of $15.00 will be charged if the tuition is received after the 10th day of the month. Payments received after the 15th of the month incur a charge of $20.00. All fees must be current by the end of the month if the child is to continue in the program. Tuition is not refundable and must be paid even if the child is ill or on vacation. Furthermore, no refunds are made for tuition when children are voluntarily withdrawn from the program.

Holidays and Snow Days

On Parent Information Night, you will be provided with a school calendar noting the scheduled holiday dates. Our school will follow Loudoun County Public Schools for closings due to weather, national or local security precautions as well as late openings.
In case of inclement weather, Loudoun County Public Schools will announce school closings on Alert Loudoun (you may register on this site to receive school/weather alerts by email, cell, etc.), on local television stations and also on WAGE (1200 AM/FM) radio.
If the public schools open 1-hour late, we will be open from 10 - 12 noon. With a 2-hour delayed opening, we will be open from 11 - 1pm with snack served at mid-session. Stay and Play would be canceled for that day; please remember there are no refunds or credits for stay and play. Snow days will not be made up and may necessitate the rescheduling of some of our events.
