FEBRUARY 2012
REGISTRATION
Registration for the next preschool year is off to a great start! We appreciate so much your recommending our program to your family, friends, and neighbors.
If your child is returning for another consecutive year, no new forms are necessary. We already have your Virginia School Health Examination form and your Enrollment form on file. In the fall, we will only need updates on your emergency contacts. If there is a sibling coming to our school for the first time, you will receive an Enrollment form with the placement notice; you may download the Virginia School Entrance Health Examination Form here. These forms do not have to be returned to us until school begins in September. Thank you and welcome back!
TEACHER WORKDAYS
February 3rd and 21st are preschool TEACHER WORKDAYS - there will be no preschool classes on these days. This is a time for our teachers to assemble and organize the childrens portfolios, prepare for conferences, gather resources for the upcoming CTPT Units (Children and Teachers Plan Together) and share inspiration, materials, and ideas with each other.
VALENTINES DAY
Happy Valentines Day to all our families and friends!
Please follow the instructions given by your childs teacher for the giving and receiving of cards. Some of the skills involved in delivering and receiving Valentines are as follows: association of sounds and letters, recognizing ones own name in writing, learning the letters within a name, understanding the function of names as words, and recognizing the letters and sounds in the names of classmates.
Have a great day and remember.we love you!

SNOW DAYS
Just a reminderin case of snow, please watch for school closings on local television stations and also on WAGE (1200 AM/FM) radio. We follow Loudoun Countys advice for closing and opening late due to weather conditions. If the public schools open 1-hour late, we will be open from 10-12 noon. With a 2-hour delayed opening, we will be open from 11-1PM with a snack served at mid-session. Stay and Play would be canceled for that day. Please remember there are no refunds or credits for Stay and Play.
If you would like an email or cell-phone alert about school closings, visit https://alert.loudoun.gov/ for further information. This is the most efficient, timely method of receiving news about school scheduling.
Please remember to send only a healthy child to school. Children should remain at home until they have no fever for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication.

SAFETY IN THE PARKING LOT
ON ARRIVAL - Please be alert, patient and courteous to all parents and children as you drive through the parking lot.
Please refrain from using your cell phone as you enter and until you depart from the school.
AT DISMISSAL - Please pull all the way forward as you approach the school entrance and as close as possible to the car in front of you. Never pull out of line to depart; please be patient while all children are helped into their cars. Stay in your car as we walk your child to the vehicle. For safety reasons we will help children into the car on the passenger side only. You may then pull over to the gBuckle Up Zoneh to secure safety seats.
If you need to pick your child up early, you must come before 11:50. Once dismissal has begun, you may NOT re-enter the building until all children have been safely delivered to their cars. Some families from the neighborhood walk to pick up their children and they must arrive by 11:55. Thank you for your patience and consideration for our safety procedures.
COME JOIN US FOR STAY & PLAY!
Sign up for the "Stay & Play" program each month...you'll have some extra time for your shopping or errands! Children bring their lunches to school, enjoy eating with their friends and teachers, and afterwards play on the playground or in the rainy-day room in inclement weather.
Parents may sign up for this program on a monthly basis; at the end of each month, the signup sheet & fees will be posted for the following month. Please submit a separate check for payment when you sign up.
