Welcome Neighbor

Dear Neighbor:

Welcome to your new home in our Northern Virginia community from the members of the Alexandria-Lincolnia Lions Club, who serve this area.

We are part of the world’s largest service organization. We are here for residents and business people within your new community of western Alexandria and the northeast corner of Fairfax County. We have been helping and working with the men, women and children of this neighborhood since 1964.

Like all Lions Clubs around the world, we are famous for collecting used eyeglasses and hearing aids to help those who are less fortunate. We also donate some of the money we collect in our fund-raising efforts to aid research of diseases that affect sight and hearing.

But, like all Lions Clubs, we return far more of our funds directly to our community. Among the recent projects in which the Alexandria-Lincolnia Lions Club has participated are purchasing playground equipment at local schools, donating to the Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology safe graduation night party, conducting an art contest with cash prizes for students at Holmes Middle School, providing special stuffed bears for ill children at Fairfax Hospital, assisting a local shelter for battered women, aiding the City of Alexandria’s Human Resources Parent/Infant Program, taking part in Virginia’s adopt-a-highway clean-up program and so much more. And like all Lions Clubs, we do not use any of the funds we collect for our personal use.

Once you get settled in your new home, we welcome you to visit us during one of our dinner meetings. We gather at the Squire Rockwell restaurant just west of the Beltway on Little River Turnpike at 6:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month. Membership is open to men and women..

Once again, welcome to your new home. We are here to serve you, like we have with your new neighbors for more than 40 years.

Sincerely,

Dan Duncan

President
